hows does this work? is it just like a regular attack only the target doesn't automatically target you back? is it a mind pool attack? is it a skill you use in conjunction with headshot to hide your position?

I just want to understand how this works, so I can properly choose my first rifleman skill. Does it attack a random pool, or always mind? When firing at something that ISN'T BAF, you can use it contantly without them attacking you? Right now I"m hunting snorbal's, should I get conceal or mindshot2?

It works on non baf mobs and attacks random pools. And you need to pray that you dont miss, if that happens youget detected.

But i feel pity for those using it to kill mobs, it takes ages to take one mob down. Get mindshot2 instead, it stacks with mindshot 1, then do the warning shot jojo or use supression shot, its much faster.

The best part is it drains a TON of mind so you run out of mind and pop off a normal shot and down you go ;/

What??? I am a huge conceal shot fan (although I seem to be about the only one, so you may just want to ignore me). I use conceal shot to solo non-assisting creatures (the devs have also said that they are going to fix assisting mobs being alerted to our presence when we use conceal, so at some point it will be viable there too). I disagree with the other posters here on 2 points: I have never had something attack me if I miss a conceal shot (and I use it a *lot*), and the mind cost on it is *not* high, it is the same as headshot2. I have my stats set up so that I can pretty much link conceal/headshot2's nonstop if I take a short break ever 5 mins or so, and I don't even have to worry about that if I throw on a muzzle for 25% mind cost reduction (I have 650 focus, 600 willpower btw).
Mindshot2 is extremely useful as well, and mindshot combined with warning shot is an option, but there are quite a few creatures that warning shot just doesn't really phase.
The other mentioned downside of conceal shot, that it hits a random bar, is true. I would say the distribution is somewhere along the lines of 45/35/20 % on hitting H/A/M, but don't quote me on that. However, it does high damage, comparable to headshot2's multiplier I would say, to whatever one it hits.
At the end of the day, I highly recommend both shots, but I personally wish that I would have taken conceal shot as my first step into rifleman. You may hate it, you may love it (and to be perfectly honest, more people seem to hate it), but know that there is at least one rifleman out there that loves conceal shot.

Scenario : prone, T21, conceal shot 1 of 3 targets that herd, why is it if i make a successful conceal shot on my target the other 2 agro?

its a sniping shot, shouldnt it remain stealth? the only shot that gives a sniper the ability semi-solo is ruined by other creatures attacking you while the target you hit has no clue who hit him? just seems like if the target who you hit has no clue who hit it then nothing else should either.

it's being fixed.. was talked about in the swg discussion forum by a developer (Dan).. thing is that it will essentially put is in complete god mode PvE.. we'll be able to hit mobs and they'll have no chance of coming after us. At master I can aim/conceal shot in 2 seconds and essentially never miss.. it's already almost a god mode shot on mobs that don't baf only problems i've had are on warping mobs...if I eatcaf/ryshcale/spice,I can shoot it every 2 seconds for 10 minutes straight with my T-21 and still have mind. Killed a gorax (lvl 300, 23k ham 25% resist energy, armor heavy) without it even moving a step in about 5 minutes. So realistically expect some kind of nerf.. perhaps a higher % chance to miss and fail once the baf fix comes in.

I agree with Leche I too have learned the beauty of conceal shot. while my stats are still migrating i have chosen it as a basis for hunting kimo's. I havent had any problems at all with being detected and while it does take some time to take down a kimo ... the rewards are there. The only problem i have is the random disappearance of the target. Kinda frustrating to get all the way down to the last few shots and have the darn thing disappear.

yes conceal shot is great if you have patience and time

it works very well on critters of all types ...

but it is less efective aginst mid to high lvl social npc's

if your starting rifleman then conceal shot may prove useful to you as it will allow to take out simple target easier without much risk ...

soloing kimos with conceal shot is great but time in game is costly ... 15 minutes ... grouping with with 2 peeps with good tanks can net you 3 kimos in the same amount of time if you use jawa / ms1 ms 2 hs2 same xp usually and same rewards minus bragging rights .

if your primary goal is to kill critters in this game then go conceal.

another bonus for conceal shot is that you can soften up a difficult mission by taking those npc's out that tend to wander from the group.

but if you group alot you may find your bleeds more usefull ..

it really boils down to style of play.
