Thread: Mind heal IS going to be put in the game....

Unless I'm very mistaken, expect some form of mind heal soon. Some quotes from Raph Koster (Holocron):


"It's the bread and butter in large part because mind can't be healed on the fly in combat... That's the underlying problem, I think."


"We don't plan to allow medic types to heal mind, because it opens the door to lots of exploits for them, as you point out."


"Frankly, this situation is a bit of a loophole in the design. We did not catch the medic exploit until too late, so we removed the mind pool heal from them, without creating an alternative. Mind is not supposed to be the determining factor in a combat."


I'm not sure if this is good news or bad. It would be nice to have less downtime, but a doctor / mind healer would be almost unkillable.

My theory Is it will be a Squad Leader Mind regen, I have said it thousands of times.

They dont want medics doing it, wich means no stims, they dont want entertainers becuase of no "bard", the only thing left are Squad Leaders.

Actually I think quite the opposite. Dancers can buff mind already, it would be right in line with them.

squad leader logical, because of the skill requirements to reach it (making it harder to create a self healing class), and that thier class is so underpowered as it stands.



its also a group orientated class, so i would assume the mind heals would be for groupmates only

You have to read what Holo wants, and all the SOE dev team. They dont want Entertainers to have a combat roll, there purely non-combat. They dont want the "bard."

A regeneration makes sense for Riflemen because our problem is excessive down time but a lot of the complaints come from players on raids who don't die to anything but mind damage. To fix that problem they will have toadd in a mind heal or at least a mind transfer. I don't think anything but a mind heal will do for most people.

I started a thread about the entire combat system in the SWG General Discussion, but I don't think anyone read it


I don't think mind should be healable, but it should not incapacitate either. I was thinking along the lines of mind transfer. Heal XX/YY mind damage at the cost of XX mind. I will copy the post in this thread. Tell me what you think.

Either way they are going to open the door up to some serious exploiting if they make mind healable. I macroed a mule up and with the mind buff and a good CH pet tanking we can do some serious damage PVE.

I'm not a ranger, nor do I want to be one, I'm a riflemen, I cause the mind to be hurt, but a ranger class might be a good option for this too. THey are the first to hit the scene in real wars and are supposed to be seal sufficent, maybe add a mind heal bonus to one of their super camps, that might make the rangers a more wanted and needed profession.

If they put a mind heal in the game it should be for rifleman only. Every class in the game can spam combat specials, except for rifleman, our man HAM costs is mind. We are not the only class that hit mind. Your only shot when fight say a BH is to bleed mind, and hit mind, but by utilizing our skills we are effectively helping that BH take us out. Better yet leave out mind heals or make them non-combat sef only, move our special skills costs to action where they should be. Didn't SOE state that mind damage was what made rifleman unique. ERRRRrrrrrr BS.
