How often do you use Aim? Before every shot?

How long does it last? Only tillthe first time youshoot?

Ahhh...thats all for now I guess.

Thanks in advance.

aim is very usefull when you go long range, prone and sucessfully take cover. but you can aim anytime it basically gives you a "to hit" bonus and because dmg is parially calculated by how well you hit, it by default does some extra dmg.

aim is good for only your upcoming shot, and takes an extra attack of your weapon to execute. after you shoot, its gone and you have to aim again.

so if you have a weapon with speed of 9.0, then you use aim it will take you 18 secs to get it off (beware the crappy tusken rifles)

if you have a weapopn with a speed of about 2.7 and a speed powerup, then aim really rocks.

Actually, Aim only takes a second. So If you use a slow weapon you will go from say 9s to 10s. Very useful for rifles shooting in melee. .

Aim takes a second? i don't think so. The animation only takes a second but if you time your comabt, you will realize that AIM does in fact take up a whole combat round.

Just timestamp the messages (checkbox in chat options) that should tell you how long it takes, and its nowhere near a full combat round.

One disadvantage with aim. Whe you are kiting a critter, you stop to aim, and if your speed is almost equal to the critter, allows it to catch you, and we know we do not like that when holding a rifle..

My current weapon has an ideal range of 45m, what i do is go prone at 55-60m, aim, mindshot 1, aim, headshot 1 (gives an effictive to hit bonus of around +10-20)now the creature is running at you from extreme range (som will, others will allow one more shot before it comes), if so just hit it on the head again). and will soon hit my sweetspot, well warning shot will keep it there (if it sticks ), and there is no need to aim, as the to-hit will be around 20-30 in the sweetspot)

As long as it's feared, no need to aim, you can pretty much decide what range you want to shoot from. You can move a bit in between shots and still keep the prone bonus to hit. And if things go sour, i dont have to fumble to clear my cueof aim commands, i can just stand up and run blasting away as i do, but never slowing down. I may miss a bit more, but if i am not taking damage, who cares

With a slow weapon like a Tusken or a Laser rifle you practically get the aim for free. With a spraystick or CDEF it is a noticeable delay (due to them firing faster anyway). So, it all depends...

The AIM takes a full combat round on EVERY shot AFTER your first. Your first aim is a freebie because combat doesnt start until your first shot goes off and the fact that the damage on your first shot is front loaded.

Incorrect. I have a 7.5 speed rifle and my there is exactly 1 second on the timestamps between the time I aim and the time I fire Headshot2.

That's because the graphic and the combat message dont appear untill you're almost done aiming -which is right before you fire.

Try this:

Fire two headshots without aiming first. Measure the time between them.

Now fire two headshots but aim on the second one. Measure the time between your shots. What are your results? A full combat round delay was my result.

I use AIM, on the first and 2nd shot. After that there usually charging me. So I cannot afford the delayed speed. First shot they usually sit there, after the2nd shot they begin to charge.

I on the other hand use AIm at close range. I dont use it at long range because I don't need to - my bonus to hit is already positive.

We're using rifles with a 7+ second delay. That's a hell of a long time, and I think we'd notice if AIM was using a whole combat round. It definitely is not adding a 7 second delay to my shots, if so I'd be shooting once every 20 seconds (due to headshot 2 increasing firing time to 12 seconds).
