Thread: The Perfect Defensive Combo
Lobo's fencer/TK/rifle template seems to be pretty uber for PvP - but im hesitant to follow this route as it leaves very few points left over for noncombat skills. I guess it depends on what your SWG plan is as to what the best template.
My TKA skills do get used a fair amount. Dizzy with rifle and a TK KD is handy. As is the TK headhit when the opponent has closed the range, but with low mind left after my frantic HS2's. Oh and grey gabaki is my new best friend - takes the HAM sting out of rifle specials.
the meditative and power lines don't give any bonuses while you're holding a rifle, and neither does balance 4. the master box gives you 15 equilibrium, but i don't thinkthat'sworth31 skill points... I put those into medic instead, which I think is much more useful.

i might drop some medic to get power boost, though, depending on how they end up fixing that.

The meditate line gives you Powerboost. So for 10mins my stats go from 800/700/1050 to 1325/1225/1575 - coupled with grey gabaki i can SS2 till the cows come home.. add some food and entertainer buffs to that and things start getting scary..
And for soloing i never have to worry about wounds again with meditate4.. and "/forceofwill;/eat_fishnak;/healdamage self;" has got me out of several nasty incapped (and soon to be DB'd)situations..

This gives you:
187 Ranged Defense
187 Melee Defense
160 Block
90% KD
100% Posture Change (down)
40% Blind
ect,ect.
Master TK is very useful. the big benefit is that ALL of the defenses stack with 2 exceptions: unarmed toughness and center of being.
Powerboost is critical, dont leave home without it. Force of will is a great big package of SURPRISE for someone closing in for the DB. (I love to stand back up at full HAM when it happens)
I find that i do use the unarmed attacks a good bit in PvE, and some in PvP. Usually, if I get down to about 6-700 mind, i will pop on a good composite helm and drop the rifle.
Armor is optional. With high melee and ranged defense, i only rarly wear it, but have it availabe on a macro for emergencies. I always use a PSG.
For Master Rifleman, Master TKA, Fencer 4/4/0/0 and marksman 4/0/0/1 the Range D is 188, and Melee D is 171.
There are better DEFENSIVE templates, but for me they would give less then keeping my template the way it is. Being a MTKA is amazing, and every time I think about droping 2 lines of it and going up the pikeman line for a little extra defense I get reminded of how nice it is to add 550 to each stat with powerboost and how nice it is to meditate off disease, poison, and wounds.
Even going Fencer 4/4/4/0 like I am might be a little to extreme and I might drop the last line so I can heal myself, but I will try it for awile first.
Alright, been doing a lil number crunching, and have found that with Master rifleman, Master teras kasi, and fencer 4 4 0 0, ranged defense is 200+, melee defense around 185-190+, KD defense about 75+, blind defense about 35-40+, and of course the misc resists (combat equillibrium, stun res dizzy res etc.) Now imagine.. 80+ block, 200 ranged defense, 190 melee defense. Dear god. I'm already a master rifleman/master tka, ranged defense is about 125 and melee around 115 and I already get hit about half the time. Just some number crunching, but if I pull this off it would be one hell of a defensive character. Already at one hand 4 and started about two hours ago, wish me luck

Hmm, I've been looking a build very similar to this. but instead of mastering TKA, jsut getting 4004, and fencer 4000. And then getting a bit of scout, medic and artisian for quick healing and makng money as a miner. I would not get most of the Def. vs that you would, but I would get close to the Melee and ranged defenses along with defense acuity.
Just think about how well this build will do when they fix defense acuity and block. (dont think either one works currently).
Here are a few questions:
- Do you pvp much or mostly pve?
- The TKM is nice, but do you really use it that much? What % of fights did you ahve to fall back to your skills as a TKM instead of a rifleman?
- Do you need much armor? I'm a wookie. Been looking at this because the defense bonus's would help GREATLY for me.

For a long time I thought the best thing to do was not tell anyone what my template was because I want to be unique in a way.
What finally made me start posting was the continue cries about this needing nerfed, that needing loving while I knew from creating my template the people making these comments were wrong. What finally pushed me over the edge was the knowledge that if these people continued to complain without being shown they were wrong we could see the game change when it didnt need changing. In the end game balance could be really hurt because of it.
I dont want this template to be the "uber" template, and trust me I dont think it is. We can try to build our template to be good against some things, but in the end there is no way to beat every conciveable template. There are templates out there that are going to be inherently better against my template, and I am happy they will be.
I've been considering TK 0004 ... with which I'ld end up with around 100 melee/ranged defense.
Would that be enough to be worthwhile against 110-130 accuracy bonuses? Or is it the kind of thing where your defense only improves noticably if you're very close or higher than the attacking score?
Considered 4004 a bit too ... but I'ld be giving up medical skills I really want to get there.
The base to hit is 65%.
So if someones total accuracy was 110 and you had 100 defense, they would have +10 accuracy divide that by 2 then add it to the 65%. So they would have 70% chance to hit.
Correct me if I am wrong here guys but the lowest accuracy I have seen is 2h sword at +135 at Master. On the high end TKA and Master Pistoleer/BH have +205. That is before calculating any range bonuses in of course.
As for your question would it help? Yes sure it would help, rather have someone only hitting me 70% of the time instead of 95% of the time.
