I use it against mokks in Danttooine. It works like charm. A couple of shots of strafeshot2 and they are dead.
GA2 is exactly right... Mokks have high resists to just about everything. One of their few vulnerabilities are Cold. Several times on Dantooine I have gotten into a large group, gone to the terminal and gotten 40K Mokk missions, then disbanded and soloed them with my SG82. (BTW, when I ask for an invite to a large group, I make it clear that it is just to get good missions).
There may be other creatures out there where a Cold-dealing weapon can be an advantage.
And it's FIRING GRAPHICS lookreally cool too! Sometimes in groups I'll use it just to show off!

I don't know what current stats are for SG82's - I've had mine for probably six months at least. It has 262 damage if I remember correctly. Not great, but gets the job done when I need it.

don't voritors also have a low resist to cold? There is also a MOB on Dath that has a low cold resist -- can't remember at the moment -- at work ![]()
Taaz
alot of NPC's are vunerable to cold.
Rebel NPC's from faction missions are almost always cold vunerable
The SG82 is cold damage, but it is also AP0, and its damage rangeis pretty mediocre. Therefore, I almost never use it, but if I do, it is almost always only against MOBs that are vulnerable to cold, not just low cold resists. If they are vulnerable to cold, both armor and resists are bypassed. That being the case, you will get no less damage attacking a heavy armor target vulnerable to cold than you would an unarmored target vulnerable to cold (i.e., a 500 point hit would do 500 points of actual damage in either case). However, if the target has any resists to cold,it is not as cut and dried sinceany resists to cold means that armor comes into play.
So that same 500 point hit against an unarmored target with 1% cold resists will do 495 points of damage, but only 62 points of damage against a heavy armor target with 1% cold resists. Thus, do not assume that just because it has low resists to cold and high resists to energy that the SG82 is the automatic choice. If that same target had 80% resists to energy, the SG82 would probably be better against an unarmored target, but it would be a toss up at light armor (depending on how much higher a damage range your T21 has over the SG82). And at medium or heavy armor with 1% cold and 80% energy resists, the T21 will do better.
So it is worth having for some special occassions, but due to its AP0 rating, it is of limited value.
