I was hunting snorbals for a day or so and was starting to get good xp (wasnt bothered about cash my primary goal at the moment just master my profession ) now i'm finding that impossible as they have become extinct , apart from the odd one now and then .
So what can I hunt now to get my boxes moving , my current skills are 2,1,1,1 so any advice on the route up to master rifleman would be good.
So fellow riflemen give me some of your tips so I can attain master rifleman and start playing the game rather than grinding .

pick one, mindshot to the best of your ability, warning shot that which runs at you, disengage before you shoot again and follow the one that's bleeding. So long as you don't shoot them again, they'll run 90-120 meters away from you. It's keeping a warning shot on 'em all that's the trick.

I think he means what other creatures on what other planets are good for grinding xp.

Since the snorbal extinction, i've been forced to search abroad for another source of good xp as well. (I'm only 1-0-0-0 on the rifleman tree, started the game 2 weeks ago).

Bantha's even seem a bit hard to find - I might have to take a trip back to Mos Taike though.

Last night I was on Talus hunting Torturs - I made 60k xp in about three hours, but it wasn't as easy as Snorbals. Snorbals respond better to traps (i'm level four scout, just need apprentice points) - and you can kite them. not so with Torturs, you only run so far, but with the bleeds, you get'em in the end. there's more down time between kills. and phecnacine darts don't seem to work much often, and Adhesive mesh is unreliable at best (unless my materials just arne't up to par). nevermind that you get crappy meat/bones/hide from them.

Dalyrakes are fun, they respond better to traps, and are quick kills with headshots + a mind shot2.

I'd also like to know what creatures are good for rifle xp (non-db, baf optional, 1000xp minimum per kill or quick kills to make up for it, kiting ability would be a plus).

Bolle Bol's outside THeed were a good source as well. very responsive to traps and warning shots/threaten shots.

Hey guys... my 2 cents worth:

What is the highest level mission you guys can get? I hear that if you put on armor and equip your highest level rifle that you get higher-level missions from the mission terminals. Currently I am 3/2/0/2 rifleman, so slightly higher than you. I hunt on Tatooine. I equip my highest level rifle (T21 or Laser) before approaching the mission terms, andI do not wear, or even own, armor. And I get some level 17 and 18 missions from the terminals. At these levels I can usually find the following missions available:

-- Ronto missions. These lairs produce TWO kinds of rontos: regular (approx 1000 XP) and bull rontos (approx 2200 XP). Sometimes they aggro, sometimes they don't .... havent quite figured that one out yet!

-- Squill missions (regular squills, not mountain squills): The squills from these lairs do NOT aggro and go for approx 1300 XP each.

-- Dune Banta missions: These go for 1080 XP each and they do NOT aggro and are S L O W.

-- Also, there are usually lots of Greater Mountain Womp Rats running around outside Bestine. Though I don't get missions for them, I commonly find them and they go from 1400 to 2000 XP each.

The whole point is, I can average about 24K per hour and not have to search for the MOBs (the mission terms give them to me). This isNOT a huge number, but since other higher XP missions seem to be getting nerfed, it suits me fine. And yes, it IS a GRIND.

Choose a different profession ! RIGHT NOW!!!!!

We have been waiting for a response now for over 3 months and can't get one and have been waiting for fixes since Beta II. Save yourself the headache and just go to Pistoleer or Commando.

No problem Mele,

I think I may give you tips a shot tonight, Wayne.

Right now I cap out at level 12 missions, on Tat i usually get things like Womp Rat lairs, I'll kep an eye out for the regular squills and Ronto's though!

Dune bantha's are good, if you head sort of NE of Mos Taike you can usually find 'em.. Feral bantha's were awesome, i could kill them in under a minute of kiting with only headshot2 and they were worth over 1k xp, but i only EVER found one pack of them. dunno where they're at these days.

Keep the tips coming -us lower level rifleman have a long ways to go and times are tough(er) without snorbals and the reduced accuracy.

NEvermind that I have to avoid ALL nym's on Lok (yes, even the yellow non-agro ones) because I have -5000 nym FP after an afternoon of disregard for Nym authority (read, blowing up bases for 16k a pop). hehehe

Thanks again guys, looking forward to more!

Well yesterday I went to Endor with a group of people, about 5. And we just ran around and were able to kill most anything. But what I did though is use Flurry shot, a normal flurry shot was about 1200 up to 1800; but I only got 1800 once the whole day.(usings a laser rifle) But It worked great cause I would hit the same pools everyone else was hitting. Im a 1/1/0/1 Rifleman. We also had two pets with us, a Grand Wrix, and my Dewback.

Jeisyn...

I just want to be sure that you're clear on this: If you can't get higher that level 14 missions, then you may not see ronto and squill missions ever listed on the terminal. I'm not real sure how that works.

And be aware that even if you CAN get level 17-18 missions, you often have to search through the mission lists a while (with the 'Refresh' button) before you see the ronto and squill missions.

Here is how you recognize them without having to display a description of every mission: Compare the distance and the $ value. I look for a DISTANCE of about 600-1000 meters that has a value from 2300 to 2700, that is, about a 3-1 ratio. I don't even look at a mission whose value is under 2000... very few, if any, of those will be rontos and squills. Squill missions are harder to find.

Another mission that's not bad is Desert Eopies. They are only worth 800-900 XP each, but respond well to the Mindshot, Headshot, WarningShot method that is so popular. You can usually take out a nest of them in short time with low danger of incap (if you're careful, of course).

Thanks for the clarification Wayne, but yeah, I knew what you meant in the first place - (I really do appreciate you taking the time to make it clear though, most ppl wouldn't)

I meant that I currently mission at the 10-13 difficulty, (unless i'm on lok where they go up to 65 )

most of my missions have a max payout ranging between 1000-1800 (for longer distance ones)

I'll scroll through and see if i can find a ronto/squill mission, i don't expect to, but i'll do the missions i'm capable of getting and if i come across any ronto's or regular squills then i'll try my hand at hunting them!

Thanks again

I read somewhere that Pubams on endor were fun as well? haven't been to endor/dath/Dant or Rori yet. lots of Lok experience though.

This is just an untested thought on why some of the Ronto missions seem to aggro. I think itmay be because there are two different animals that come out of the nest as I said above: regular ronts and bull rontos. The ratio seems to be about one bull for every two regular rontos.

It is my suspicion that if you shoot a regular ronto with a bull around, the bull will come after you also. But if you shoot the bull first (he's worth more anyway) maybe the regular ronto will ignore you. In other words, I think thebull rontos have better detection capabilities, so always take them out first.

If anyone manages to test this theory, let me know.

I went found some red (aggro) tortors on Rori. I forget what they were called specifically. I found em in the swamps about3-4 k south of restuss. I have also seen em around the rebel outpost there. I was able to solo them with bleeds and mindshots. They gave me 3900 xp per kill. I am 1 0 0 0 Rifleman. I didn't use traps. Just bleeds and warning shot. Also they are non BAF and Non DB. I did great until I ran into some swampcats that are DB and very deadly. I did not find any missions for em. I just went out and looked for em. They are not uncommom once you get away from the cities. Keep in mind there are regular Rori Tortors that are not aggro. They are similar to TorTors onTalus. The Aggro ones are the good xp.
