Thread: Poll: How many T-21's till you got a damage Slice?

I'm on six and counting, yet to see one. I read on a post here, that it's usually speed 75% of the time. If so, is that by design, you think, or something the Devs should look into? Speed slices are great for leveling up but at x/x/x/4 and up it's really time to step up the damage. At 50k a pop (plus slicing cost), a 25% chance (and that does not account for a GOOD dmg slice) can get disheatening and wallet-breaking. I totally support not letting Master Smuggler choose speed or dmg, after all, it's all about the gamble. But this is the only weapon I've come across with this problem, anyone seen other weapons do this? What do you guys think? Col- Forbin.

Tell me about it had 2 Krayt enhanced T21's made and both got a 30% speed slice. What I dont understand is at Master why can't a Smuggler get to choose the type of slice he is doing. You would figure that after attaining master he/she would know how to slice a weapon for damage.

im a master rifleman now, and i blew 62k + slicing on 2 'heavy' T21s (99 mind) so, now there fast, and they still only do 450 damage or so, as opposed to the 520+ i was hopeing for... gues i can give them away to some novice, thats all there good for now

They can't choose because it's all part of the territory. They are gamblers, therefore dealing with one should be a gamble. However, it should be 50/50, not scewed one way or the other. Only way I see them letting Master choose, is that when you choose a specific one, the ranges become less. So if a Master slices wepons between 16%-35%, when "choosing" dmg or speed, ranges drop to something like 12%-30%. My 2 cents, Col- Forbin.

Yeah... I've complained about this often. Many of you have seen me complain beforethat 18 or 19 out of my first 22 slices were for speed. Probably 65-75% since then. The one bright spot came about 2-3 weeks ago when I went and bought 3 T21s so I could hopefully get ONE damage slice and went THREE FOR THREE! I just about fell out of my chair! One of them was just 18%, but the others were 28% and one over 30%!

I tend to have better luck with Laser Rifles. Probably close to 35-40% damage slices on those.

I believe it is just a 50/50 chance on speed or damage, butpeople just remember the slices they don't want. It is the whole focusing on the negative theory. I would like to see some hard numbers on this though, probably would need a master smuggler to test this for us. Would need a large number of weapons to slice too, and even several of each weapon. I don't have a smuggler but would like to see a test on this.

Beamstalk...

19 out of 22 sounds like pretty hard numbers to me. And I do keep track. That is why I always buy THREE rifles of one I want a damage slice on. I have at least three times gotten three speed slices. Almost always TWO out of three are speed. Believe me, I *DO* remember good damage slices because they are rare.

So you're welcome to your opinion, even if its wrong. I even had a Master Smuggler tell me he saw more Speed slices.

I've only bought one T-21, and it's been sliced for damage. Let's hope that I have the same luck when I need to have another one sliced...

I got 5 T21's to get sliced, first 35% damage, second 32% damage, last three all speed. Would be cool if each smuggler had slightly different chances of getting a particular slice, split it off into two kinds of smugglers, those more likely to get weapon speed and armor encumbrance, and those more likely to get weapon damage and armor effectiveness. Still not a guaranteed thing, maybe 70/30 or even a barely noticable 60/40.

19 out of 22 is well ouch, but I can really still see that as just bad luck, no offense Wayne. I am not arguing with you, I would just like to see a greater number in the test. Personally, I have had only 3 weapons get speed slice out of several, can't remember how many weapons I have used.

Plus my wanting of larger number of test weapons just comes from my knowledge of percentages, the more items you have in the testthe closer youare to actual percentage.

Example:

10 weapons - 8 speed - 2 damage - looks like 80%

at 100 - 34 speed - 66 damage - now looks like 34%...etc.

Mind you these are just numbers off the top of my head, and in no way tested.

I am sorry if this looks like an affront to you Wayne or that you are wrongin your assesment, but I would just like to see a large number like 100 weapons in a row sliced to see the outcome.

My apologies Beamstalk...

I did sound argumentative. Bad day yesterday... but today is much better. I had one smuggler I used call me the "speed slice king". So I guess my character is just doomed to suffer this affliction!

I think the real question is: Why do we bother with T21s at all? The only thing they're good for is looking cool (and that gets old quick too). I've run into plenty of riflemen in PvP that spam their specials on a T21, and as long as I'm wearing armor, I can stand by waiting for their mind to drain and down them with one headshot2.
