I am an expert rifle user with headshot 2, butonly a DLT20a & Tusken Rifle. I had my first taste of one-on-one player-vs-player today, and I was owned by two different pistol users.

I don't know what the deal was. Each time, I got one head shot off, and then it wouldn't work anymore. I don't know if it was too laggy, or I if Iwas too close? If was like I wasn't firing at all because they were receiving no damage while my HAM bar kept going down.

Are rifles that bad at around 20 to 30 meters away or am I doing something wrong?

Anyone have any good rifle vs pistol PvP tips?

try using AIM next time - the close range effectiveness can be dramatically improved.

Pistols will own you with a one-on-one, but if you are in the back, with a lot more people, the rifleman is a monster.

Also, hope they're not wearing armor! Me and a Pistoleer friend of mine dueled each other and tried different ranges, attacks, and tactics to practice on each other. He was wearing bone armor. With his helmet on, I couldn't beat him. If he took his helmet off, I could smoke him in 2-3 hits.

I know it soaks up some damage but it was rough!

You outdamage the pistoleer, though.. Usually you can outrace them. Just kneel then aim/headshot over and over and let them have whatever range they want.

Provided your equipment is on par with theirs, and with a little bit of luck (you can't miss more than 2 or so) you'll kill them before they kill you.

i dueled a pistoleer awhile back and owned him. He kept killing the poor rawls and insulted the empire... Anyway as long as there are no brawlers you should kneel and if far away go prone. also go for the smallest pool. He had a low mind pool so i used hs a lot.

A rifleman is a sniper, my tactic is to sneak up on a reb, go prone, cover, aim, and let the head shots rip em apart. With "headshot 2" and a DL20a rifle I rock, 3 shots and your PK'ed. Note if you dont have the element of suprize, your screwed.

Im a rifleman. We attacked anchorhead with a bunch of imperials from bestine. I was standing outside the city walls, shooting in there, dropping people with 1 shot(laser rifle). But when someone came close to me, I had probems even if the person was novice marksman title. -miss- -miss- -miss-... Rifle rules from distance, but that -50 to hit to a person right next to you(unless you got cdef, better point blank in that) is bad... So I dont wonder if a pistoleer, who is good at close range, owns a rifleman who misses.

hi

i have dueled plenty of pistol users, and so far, i pretty much owned them instead of them owning me. in fact up until i read up on them on this board yesterday i didnt even know what it is they are supposed to do, hence i didnt use them at all.

in my duels i havent used any mindshots or headshots whatsoever, and my weapon was a CDEF Rifle base dmg range 27-59 /31-63.

when up close in my face i used point blank single while kneeling. at any medium range and all around juts used overcharge 1. at the longest ranges when they run from me and i can barely hit them i used a mix of overcharge 1, aimed shot. both medium and long range are always done standing or running.

best powerups you can have for your weapon for PvP are ideal range, + to attack, + min dmg and + max dmg.

all the rest are kinda useless i think. the wound powerups in particular cause they take so long to work. by the time i actually wounded someone they were near death anyways. so remember that does make a hell of a lot of difference. i paid up to 5k for my powerups while i put them on a 300 credit weapon, hehe.

stay away from relying on wounding your opponent cause it wastes your time. do direct/immediatedmg instead. only time i would see myself using mindshot / headshot combo would be if i go p against a brawler that i can run away from or something like that, which i havent done yet.

stay away from using any specials that use a lot of action / mind pool. you take dmg to both of those during combat so you dont want to help your opponents out by doing dmg to yourself and/or knocking yourself out cause of specials. do things that have a very low cost. experiment on mobs with this.

20-30 meters seems ideal range for the rifle overcharge.

next, your weapons. do NOT use Tusken Rifles. those things royally and totally suck. i have seen ones with attack time up to 9.9 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!!

your tusken rifle does something like 60-118 dmg every 9.9 sec while a CDEF rifle does 32-63 every 3.1 seconds. do the simple math.

BTW the way the game works, is that even if you open wit ha tusken rifle, then switch real fast to another much faster weapon, the game still waits until the 9.9 or whatever the fire rate on the tusken is (they vary depending on quality) expires and then ADDS the time from the weapon you switched to before it fires the weapon you switched to. so its an extremely bad idea to switch in mid combat. Jawa Ion Rifles are also slow, so dont use em, although they are somewhat faster then tuskens, they still suck, and the mind/action cost for specials on them will get you kileld as it will add to the dmg you receive.

for PvP, you want the fastest fire weapon possible.

hope this helps, it has worked for me very well.

Pire, maybe I'm missing something here but if you're not using headshots why even bother with rifleman? I would think you'd get much more body damage with a carbine or pistol.

Whatisahandle: The laser rifle is a sniper rifle. It is not to be used for close range. Carry around an SG82 or another closer range rifle with you as well. If they close to 35 meters or closer you are screwed with the laser rifle.

Also for PvP you do not want the fastes firing weapon. It all depends. A single headshot from the laser rifle can incapacitate due to high damage. Doesn't matter if that pistol can fire at 4 times to your 1, if after your 1 he's already down.

Oh, one other thing: if you have a Tusken with a refire rate of 9.9 then it's either a mob drop or made out of the worst possible material by a horrible weaponsmith.
