There was another post today. It stated they would increase the damage to compensate for the slower speeds.

Actually, what was said was any -weapon- that ended up being slower due to cap would have its damage increased by a commensurate amount. For us, this pretty much only means the spraystick would get a damage boost. They never said anything about increasing the damage of weapons that would be affected by the new cap when combined with speed mods.

The actual quote:

'Any weapon that has it’s attacks slowed down due to the speed cap will have a commensurate damage increase to go along with it.'

I really hope this is just bad wording and they in fact mean any profession.

LOL!!! you're joking right... You post often enough to know what's gonna happen....

New damage mods will only happen on the top end, leaving us with 35 points HS3s' once every 3 seconds W00t W00t!!. I can't wait!! Maybe, they'll just up the HAM costs too to "compensate" for additional damage.

Either that, or every weaponsmith would charge 25k for a DLT, and since we are stuck with those because E-11's suck (on Bria) and T-21's are garbage on most servers, we will be stuck with laser that top out 550 or so preslice/power-up , but still have under 50 bottom end. That makes one useless asz gun.

Are they TRYING todrive every rifleman out of the game, or is it un-intentional Dev stupidity?? I don't know which one is worse, I just wish they were honest about it.

WellI wasn't joking, but I don't really believe it will happen, it was more of a wish.

This post isn't anything overly dramatic. I just wanted to have an idea of how the suggested 3.0 second change affected me as I moved up through the rifleman tree. I do mainly PvE, so I am not addressing the 2x pistol speed increase here. This is for those Novice Riflemen that are in the middle of the long grind to master and who are mainly doing PvE to get their XP.

Okay, I am at 3/2/2/2 Rifleman and have Master Marksman (close to 3/3/2/3).
Therefore my Rifle Speed modifier is +55.
Headshot 2 has a x1.75 Time Multiplier penalty.
The formula for actual fire rate is: WeaponSpeed * TimePenalty * (1 - RifleSpeed/100)
So currently, this is how my weapons stack up firing HEADSHOT2:
(Note: Both the Laser and T21 were sliced for speed, down from 5.4 and 9.6 respectively)

-- Laser rifle (4.6 speed): 4.6 x 1.75 x .45........ 3.6 seconds
-- T21 rifle (7.7 speed): 7.7 x 1.75 x .45 ........ 6.1 seconds
-- DLT20A (5.6 speed): 5.6 x 1.75 x .45 ........ 4.4 seconds

But by the 0/0/0/3 box in Rifleman, my Laser is starting to nerf...

-- Laser rifle (4.6 speed): 4.6 x 1.75 x .35........ 2.8 seconds --> 3 seconds if nerfed
-- T21 rifle (7.7 speed): 7.7 x 1.75 x .35 ........4.7 seconds
-- DLT20A (5.6 speed): 5.6 x 1.75 x .35 ........ 3.4 seconds

And by the 0/0/0/4 box in Rifleman, my two strongest rifles are nerfed

-- Laser rifle (4.6 speed): 4.6 x 1.75 x .25........ 2.0 seconds --> 3 seconds
-- T21 rifle (7.7 speed): 7.7 x 1.75 x .25 ........3.4 seconds
-- DLT20A (5.6 speed): 5.6 x 1.75 x .25 ........ 2.5 seconds --> 3 seconds

And by Master Rifleman, they all get nerfed big time:

-- Laser rifle (4.6 speed): 4.6 x 1.75 x .05........1.0 seconds (with current cap) Nerfed to 3.0
-- T21 rifle (7.7 speed): 7.7 x 1.75 x .05 ........1.0 seconds ............................. Nerfed to 3.0
-- DLT20A (5.6 speed): 5.6 x 1.75 x .05 ........1.0 seconds ............................. Nerfed to 3.0

Now at Master Rifleman you get StrafeShot2. I have not been able to find out the Time Penalty for this shot, but I think one person said it was around x4. If this is not close, then ignore this following set of numbers:
So if strafe shot2 is x4 time penalty....

-- Laser rifle (4.6 speed): 4.6 x 4.0 x .05........1.0 seconds (with current cap) Nerfed
-- T21 rifle (7.7 speed): 7.7 x 4.0 x .05 ........1.5 seconds ---> nerfed to 3 seconds
-- DLT20A (5.6 speed): 5.6 x 4.0 x .05 ........1.0 seconds ---> nerfed to 3 seconds

That means we are TWO to THREE times slower at Master RIfleman than beforethe SUGGESTEDchanges with our most powerful shot. Again, Idid not even address the fact that Pistoleers would be 2x faster.

You also didn't address that they'd be raising rifle damage. Which they said they'd do.

Time to stop running in circles and screaming, folks.

No, he said he might investigate raising the damage... there's a big difference there from actually doing it...

Although i quite agree that shooting at the same speed as a pistol isn't quite realistic. I do enjoy having high DPS even though it rapes my mind. I would like to continue having the highest DPS of the non-commando non-BH professions simply because we earned it. To become a master rifleman is one of the hardest professions to progress in. Even though they say we will have a damage increase, i do not believe it will be equal to what we lose. If we have our speed halved and our damage doubled to compensate, we could theoretically do 14000+ damage to an AR0 mob in one hit. Many other professions who believe they should have the highest DPS would never stand for it (basically pistolteers), they want at least equal damage which wouldn't be equal unless their specials drain their mind like us. It'll get worse with BH and Commandos since they can do 3k damage on autofire, and a master BH can hit with the LLC at about 1s. People already moan about their 10k+ damage on a knocked down opponent wielding a rifle, wait 'til it triples.

Well sure they will raise damage.. but if pistoleers get a 0.5 cap.. we get 3.. that means they gotta raise damage 6 times... you think it's likely we'll see a laser rifle with 250 - 3600 in damage anytime soon?

I thought about this too. The nerf would make master rifleman a waste unless you needed the accuracy modifiers. Who cares if damage is increased? If we reach the speed cap at 2 bars into the profession... LOL
