I've found that the aggro mobs, like quenkers and pikets can usually get about 3 - 4 shots before they aggro. I use conceal shot twice then regular shots about 2 times before they aggro. Huurtons usually come right away.

im sorry but since i hit master if i prone on just about any target it will never aggro me. I think the 3 shot concept was more of a timer not a specific shot count.
Maybe it is a set timer beforea creature aggros. By the time a creature aggros me i have killed it, (mostly talking pikets here). I am squezzing off 4 or 5 shots before it ? then another 3 before it turns to find me. Maybe its just my rifle.

Can't be a timer, you can shoot once, peace, and it'll never aggro. (At least that I've seen)
Suspect that possibly the 'ferocity' value affects this, so that low/zero ferocity things are less quick to 'spot' you. I normally get at least 3 shots from prone at distance, mostly 4, and almost always get aggro on that fourth shot. But it does seem to vary from creature to creature, and might change from planet to planet, for all I know.
This SHOULD be affected by 'take cover', so that it's harder to 'spot' you in cover, but don't know if it IS.

I've been killing gurrecks/mantigrues the last few days on endor for wooly hide, and I'm usually able to kill even the screechers and reapers before they aggro me, just spamming hs3 from prone. That's a good 8-12 shots depending on the damage rolls.

It is a timer. But you have to shoot again once the timer is expired.
Shoot once, peace, and after 5-6 seconds shoot again it will almost always aggro.
But as your speed goes up you get more shots. It is like a 3-4 secnod timer. So at master you would get like 4 shots if you're shooting 1 per second.

Well, I've gotten 3 shots from prone since marksman, actually. With rifle or pistol.
Currently, I have a 7.4 sec T21, and rifle speed 66. I get 4-5 shots, with aggro on the 5th shot (usually, sometimes 4th), with prone HS3 at 55 m. That would be one shot every 7.5 seconds, approximately. I can't see it being a simple timer, as I got the SAME three free shots, at first, with a speed 1.4 pistol, and got them whether I used max speed 'normal' shots, or slower special shots.
Perhaps it's simply an increasing chance of 'detection' with each shot, with the chance only kicking in after 2 shots? It appears from the variances that it IS affected by your skills, level, or something, but how isn't clear at all.

you dont need to go fully prone to get this benefit its better to go to kneeling than prone since if the creature gets too close you cant fire in the prone.
as a returned BH i can get upwards of 6-8 shots on pikets with legshot2 before they come after me.

standing you get 1 free shot the second shot it comes for you. kneeling and prone are the same and you get 4 for rifle. with carbine and pistol i seem to be getting a lot more close to 10 with a scatter pistol and around 6 with a laser carbine.

that doesnt make sense, we're the snipers. Maybe you have some other mods or something... did you surrender ALL of the rifleman tree?
