First off, I hate all nerf criers. I say if ya cant make constructive critism, shut up!
I am asking if you all know of any future nerfs to your profession in any way? I am thinking of going the Rifleman route just would hate to put time into something that is going to be a "Pikeman" (sorry pikers, just telling it like it is...) Also I need to know whatis better in PVP overall:
Master Sharpshooter
Master Doc
Master Sharpshooter
Teras Kasi Master
Thanks,
To answer your first question, of course there is a nerf in our future. As long as it is easier to take power away from a profession than to fix another (and, possibly overpowering it in the process), "balance" in the end will always be achieved through nerfs.
Right now, Rifleman is working reasonably well, as is TKA. Few other professions are working as intended. Therefore, people who have chosen those professions see us and TK as overpowered. Therefore, when they lose to us through bad tactics or through tactics that should work but do not because their profession is broken, the scream "Nerf." And because of the above principle, it is always easier for the Devs to reduce the power of the working profession than to fix all the broken ones.
So, a nerf is inevitable. It will likely be an oppressive speed cap. Why oppressive? Because the one thing that makes our profession work is speed. Our higher damage is good, but we get virtually no status effects and no knockdowns. Thus, if they balance the DPS by reducing our speed, we become underpowered because now, not only are we doing no more damage than anyone else, we can have every status effect in the book applied to us (due to our low defenses against them) and have none to hit back with (save for Stun, Dizzy, and a useless in PvP Posture Change Up).
Thus, in answer to your question, yes, expect a Nerf. Whether it is the speed cap, or something else, it will come.
(BTW, we will be made more vulnerable to melee in the next patch, but this is not a nerf. When they removed the 2.5x melee damage modifier, they were supposed to make us easier to hit by melee, but they got something backwards and actually made us harder to hit by them. Therefore, this is going to happen, probably in the next patch, but this is not a nerf, it is a fix to correct a recognized bug. And in my opinion, depending on the effect of this change, it will probably not be enough, so I would expect further balancing in this area, but that is just my prediction, not based on anything someone said.)
Barb this is what I got against everyone using the "Food will make it better argument".
Yes there is food that can heal your mind, remove dizzy, increase accuracy, and buff you. But still that food uses up Stomach space, meaning it is limited useage.
I'm just saying from riflemen saying "You don't like mind damage eat food that heals your mind", to carbineers that say "Dizzy sucks there is food that protects against it"that argument is faulty because food is not as effective as a stim.- So basically you can't use it over and over again repeatedly.
Now I have nothing againstDizzy+KD, I think it's a fair tactic personally. I'm just saying food is not thewonderous cureall that negates the power of every profession.

i wouldnt cry too hard for KD and dizzy they are virtually useless in PVE and in PVP they will become virtually useless in a month or two once people figure out how to use chef food and drink effectively.
Oh, I wasn't crying for it. My point was that we have three status changes: Posture change up (useless for all prractical purposes), Stun (useful when it sticks), and Dizzy (limited use, and next to impossible to use to achieve aDizzy/KD in PvP). Thus, when the nerf herders come screaming for DPS to be equal, our best defense is why should DPS be equal when everyone else has status effects that can change the outcome of the battle, but we do not. (That is, I can have ubber DPS but if I am KD'ed my DPS is 0.)
