Thread: 12k Rifle XP in 3mins

OK some wont like this, some wont be able to do it yetbut in my limited time last night this seems to work.


I'm a 1-0-3-2 Rifleman, I went through the pain of the early levels leeching off friends, soloing lots of low HAM creatures until I got to the stageI could kill reasonably well solo or grouped. Then came patch day and the BAF code changes and once again I cant solo, I can still one-shot kill a lot of creatures but the 2 friends chewing on my ass regularly end up in an incap or insane kiting.


So last night i'm trying Flits on Lok, con range from white to light blue , 2 incaps later I concede and pull my pet out I really want to make at least a little xp. I carry out 2 pet pulls with light downtime for pet healing thenI think wth and I set my pet on the lair, all hell breaks loose and the lair must have emptied out completely. At this point I open up Flushing 2, no way single shots wil take down enough in a fast enough time, well you can guess the surprise when i'm hitting 7,8 or more creatures for 1-2kdmg and NOT getting agro myself. As the topic says, I hit up 12k in that couple of minutes, I repeated on another lair with similar results. My 3rd attempt did result in a DB but I couldn't find any more Flits so tried another Bird type creature (forget the name), and impatience at setting myself up was as much to blame. The only quirk i've so far found in this plan is that babies can agro you rather than your pet, i'm not sure if they have a different agro code maybe.

Heh, Carbine Full Auto Area 2 + Grual Mualer Lair + 2 Gruals tanking = 100k xp in about 15 minutes.

See. Ya just shouldn't post this kind of stuff. The devs will read it and pretty soon the AOE attacks for rifle will only do 1-5 dmg per hit

Is there anyway to delete this thread?I think I seea Dev coming around the corner.... Since none of them play as a rifleman we can't let his secret get out. /takecover /takecover /takecover /concealshot on Dev. **edit**, they saw me.... how can they see me?

Because all your /takeCover failed and spent most of your action.

Oh and they made Devs BAF..

... you can do more damage with strafe shot 2 and shootfaster as a master rifleman.. unless you've got BH carbine speed mods. The guy is 1-0-3-2 in rifleman.

Well that seems to be the difference, i'm not a Master CH (only using a CL15) and unbuffed yet I can still rip up lairs using this technique. Last night I put on a huge chunk of XP, I was incapped a few times but no more than a normal solo session and I keep learning. This is not without it's risk, some creatures still exhibit weird BAF code and my pet was warping more than Dr Spock when it was being hit by large numbers (I also now avoid any lair on a mountain like the plague) but at least I was progressing at a reasonable rate while solo.

Master Riflemen don't need XP.



The important thing to point out is the use of the pet. CH is still the godclass in this game, especially for riflemen. If you want to make Master Rifleman in any reasonable timeframe these day, you need to either group all the time or be a CH.


You can get away with not being a CH and getting a good L15 pet, but something with 5000 HAM will be a huge benefit for leveling your rifle skills.


And the great thing is that once you get started, the CH XP will come fairly easily at the same time that you're gaining rifle XP. It's not like you have to stop using your rifle in order to get CH XP.

Don't need 2 grauls tanking, one does just fine against five others. Before I actually got my first aoe I did it the slow way by stacking mind bleeds and hitting them all once. Would then target one and just pick away until it dropped before moving on to the next. Stim B/pet stim the graul for a minute and do it all over again. AoE's make it much easier.


Discovered this all by accident btw....(apparently was underestimating the power of my mauler back then). Was hunting for babies and found a lair. Parked my pet out of the way and went in to try and tame. Mask broke and I ended up getting everything on me so I bolted out of there pastthe pet. Once I lost agg they all warped onto the pet for some reason and started going at it. At the time I thought my pet was a goner but I jumped in to help him out anyway. Needless to say I was a bit impressed with how he held up. After I pulled a baby out of the lair I had a bit of fun and beat the lair down letting the pet tank each wave of5 at once.


CH's will kill me for saying this, but if only 1 Mauler was able to be used and then only at master.....it might still be overpowered (defensively speaking)

You are assuming they read this forum. Anyway with the lack of spawns it takes a **edit** hour to find a grual mualer lair ::gruble:: and you not only have to be master CH but have doctor buffs as well, I would think at that point you should be able to take a big chunk out of some NPC butt and get some good XP for it.
