Thread: PvP First Impressions
I've been getting a little bit bored with running missions constantly, so I decided to go overt, even though I am not a master. The first thing that happened was while in Anchorhead, a declared Imperial was outside the city by the shuttleport, running up to the entrance and back behind the wall. I ran to the recruiter, targetted the Imperial and put 2 bleed shots on him, he ran off and fell incapacitated due to the mind bleeds. Someone else DB'd him.
Talking to him, I found out that he was a combat medic and was poisoning people. His stats had been frozen, so he didn't even know he was bleeding. So much for my great victory ![]()
After that I run a few missions and bump into a Bounty Hunter running around killing Rebels. I put a mind bleed on him and ran, while he eyeshot me to blind me, then used auto-attack on his LLC to kill me in about 3 or 4 shots.
Later, I was running back to Anchorhead from some missions, and I got to 45m of an Imp Commando with a flamethrower. Immediately I ran back the other way, put 2 mind bleeds on and head shot him once or twice before the auto-attack on his flamer incapped me from 45m. He strolled up to me and gave me the DB, and before I got the chance to select my clone center, he went incap from bleeding. I ran back out there, but he was gone for one reason or another. (I wasn't really that far from the city)
That flame thrower really hit me hard on wounds, so I hopped a shuttle into Mos Eisley to get healed up. I got my wounds taken care of at the Medical Center, then went to the Cantina. I got fully healed there, and was talking with one of the entertainers about Act 2 of the monthly story When an Imperial, his Stormtrooper and a beast pet come into the building. I run out the back, hoping to be able to get away somewhat by dodging around buildings. No luck, as he made it out the door, I put one bleed on him and the ST knocked me down. Luckily I had the option of cloning in Anchorhead, so I did sowithout gainingwounds. I declared myself and was hit by luck again as the shuttle hadjust arrived.I went back to Mos Eisley, and ran back to the cantina. He was still there, and before I got too close, the combat window popped up and his pets rushed to the back entrance. I made it to a spot about 65m away from the exit, layed prone and cycled to the player, who I hoped would have a small mind from the bleed I put on. Sure enough, his mind was at about 79, but he was not bleeding. The ST opened fire on me, but I ignored it, waiting for the player to get in range. Finally he did, and I dropped him with a heavy headshot 3 from my T21. I frantically cleared my combat window and spammed sniper shot, dealing out a ranged deathblow. No sooner was he vanquished, his ST incapacitated me. But I was not given a DB. After about 30 seconds, a brief dialog took place:
Him: how did you slay me from a range
Me: I am a sniper. (Note: I forgot I had my "Homemaker" title displayed)
Him: thats gay
Me: No, what's gay is you attacking me in a cantina with a stormtrooper and another pet.
Him: ya but i have never heard of slaying from a range
Me: It's called sniper shot.
Him: ok
Him: you had no chance if wasnt being attacked and had no mind
At this point, what I should have said was something like,"What I did was lead you into a tactical situation that favored me, putting you at a disadvantage. Evidently, you didn't know this, and that's good for me. But you are the one who rushed into battle with a rifleman when your mind bar was white."
Me: At any rate, a fair exchange of faction points
Him: ya hehe
So that was my first real rush - I actually beat someone! Sort-of.
Today, I was running faction missions, got bored and found out there was a declared Imp NW of Anchorhead, so I run over there to see what I can do and, at least, give me something exciting to do. I find the guy, who is sporting a Novice Scout title and Novice Marksman clothing (which isn't really something I look out for, it could mean anything). He runs into a building, so I camp 60m outside the door, waiting for him to come out. He dissapears from my radar, and I figure it's just because he went inside, but I don't want to sit there for a half hour if he logged, so I run up to open the door and see that it's not locked. I figure it's probably a trap, but I don't really care, I'm cloned just a little ways away and I have plenty of faction. I equip my FWG5, step inside, and seemingly from nowhere I'm knocked to the ground and kicked in the side repeatedly and I'm in the clone center. Okay, so it's a TKA. I go back out there and lay prone, I shoot at him and (according to him) do a lot of damage (about 450-500) and he kills me. Next time he sicks a pet on me, and I don't really care, I'm not trying to play it smart, I just want to test my effectiveness out on a steady target. We get to talking and I find out that English cuisine pretty much stops at fish and chips, as I had suspected. It was a good conversation.
I decide I've had enough for one day, and I run back into town. I notice on the hill outside the shuttleport are 2 Declared Imperial bounty hunters. There aren't a lot of declared Rebels in town at this time, but they are being patient. I tab through and pick the BH with the scatter pistol, sneak to the east side of the shuttleport, closest to the middle of town and discover that I can squeeze between the walls. I fire off a Mind Shot 2 with my T21, hitting a bleed for 287 and I immediately run into town, expecting them to follow me. He shoots back on autofire and misses twice! Near the clone center, I wait, watching his mind bar go down, down down....I walk back out to the building by the time it gets to under 100, and the bleed goes away. I walk back out and Head Shot 3 for 317 from max range, incapping him. I clear the queue and spam snipershot and he dies. I run backward to accomodate the reload of the T21. All this time, his buddy is firing lightning beams at me. I cycle to him and see that his mind bar is near empty! (I figure that he must be a medic, and used all that mind trying to stop his buddy's bleeding) I Head Shot 3 him for 251, dropping him to the ground and /snipershot.
Bam! Denzien saves Anchorhead for the time of a run from Bestine! I was really lucky with that encounter...I hit 5/5 shots, and was missed 4/4 shots by the BHs.
I send the first Bounty Hunter a /tell Better luck next time, guys.
I have to admit, that wasn't really how I intended it to sound. Panthers replies:
"lol i didnt know you were a sniper hehe that was good be ready cause this time we are coming right to you"
"i never had a fight with a rifleman hehe you are a bad arse i will say"
I told him I was lucky for the circumstances, and that I would catch him on another day, because I had to go to work.
"hehe i am sure i will see you again" - sounds kind of like a threat to me!
Anyway, I am really enjoying what little PvP I've had so far, even though I still fire reallyslowly, and it has really made my heart race!
Nice story, while you can dowell pre master, just wait till you get that Master Sharpshooter tag, it's well worth the wait. ![]()
That's what I love about PvP, it gives me such a rush.
As for the sniper shot: http://www.zen23690.zen.co.uk/Sniper%20Shot%20Exploiting.jpg
I still laugh when I see that pic. ![]()

dude if they just eye shotted you, you would have been DONE. With your already poor accuracy from them moving at closing on you, even if you didn't move you'd certainly miss after getting blinded with an eye shot. And when you use specials you drain your mind which you cant heal and you help the BH eye shot you to doeath. A BH with a pistol can get in 4 eye shots at 120 damage each in the same time it takes you to fire off one 250 damage headshot3.
Dude, I know all about Bounty Hunters and the tools they have. Did you read what I had written? Did you read about when I ran into the other Bounty Hunter who used Eye Shot to blind me? I didn't have anything to lose, so I tried it out and I was lucky. I even stated that I was lucky, even if I did not say why.
These two were waiting on a hill for declared Rebels to leave Anchorhead. When I fired Mind Shot 2 at the first one, I'm pretty sure he didn't think I could shoot him from where I was. He auto fired back as I was running away, and they did not give chase, probably thinking it would be an ambush to follow me into the heart of Anchorhead. They must have taken this time to try to stop the bleeding, which only left *both* of their mind pools weak. When I saw that his mind pool was low enough for me to incap him with a head shot (a full 2 minutes later!), I ran back, got to 60m and fired Head Shot 3 before he had time to react. I then /snipershot him, standing up. The other Bounty Hunter stood there like a moron, and was NOT running at me, I'm not sure where you got that impression, but if it came across that way, then I made a mistake in my original post. The Second Bounty Hunter was shooting at me with Auto-Attack from my max range, where I have an advantage over him - even if slight.
I was going all out, armor and everything -I wasn't TRYING to win, but it happened. All I did was recount for everyone the experiences *that happened*, not what *could have happened*, so I really don't understand what you were trying to say in your post.
After the last patch I have been doing very well as a non master Rifleman in PVP when I choose to. Call it what you like Harpoon, I call my bleeds my FU shot. Hang back and bleed the attacking force, did it in Theed the other night during a rebel raid.
Not many happy dead rebels with no revenge TEF. We are not a leet class, but we can kill very well given the chance. Once BH's dabblers lose eye shot they are in for a world of hurt.
While its true that Bounty Hunters are our most frightening foe, they're not invincible. Get a helmet, get it sliced, and get some muon gold. No more eye shot for them.
Oh, and trust me on this one. Dueling a Bounty Hunter is a very idea. So is running towards one. You have to fight them on your terms, not theirs.
And when Eye Shot is moved to Master BH, I can guarantee you that you'll see far fewer complaints of them being overpowered.
LOL I need sleep. One more try.
"Dueling a Bounty Hunter is avery bad idea."I'm going to take my beet red face away from the computer now and into bed. ![]()
