You must complete the series of quests from the Outcasts who reside in a cave in the Kkowir Forest. The problem with this is, if you go into the Outcast cave, none of the villagers of the Society will speak with you as you are an outsider. Therefore you must gain favor with them.

How do I gain favor with the Outcasts you ask? You must lose favor with the Kerritamba Tribe who also reside in the Kkowir Forest. The Outcasts hate the Kerritamba and will look favorably upon anyone who the Kerritamba do not hold dear.There is an Outcast Informant NPC in the Kerritamba village, but he will only talk to you of his people's hatred of the Kerritamba initially. He is the starting point for their quests eventually.

Firstly you must gain the trust of Chief Kerritamba, performing tasks for him to benefit the tribe and forest. Eventually the Kerritamba Champion Wirartu will become angry with Chief Kerritamba for asking you to do work for the tribe instead of him, and will challenge you. You must face him in the Kerritamba Arena.

Here is the important part. When you prove that you are more than a match for Wirartu, he will acknowledge his defeat and beg for mercy. Your decision here directly affects your future quest options in the Kkowir Forest, so choose carefully.

If you choose to show Wirartu mercy and spare his life, you return to talk to Chief Kerritamba and you will receive the Champion Sword and the badge for being the Champion of the Arena. You will not be able to do the Outcast series of quests.

If you choose to finish Wirartu and kill him (don't forget to loot his assault bowcaster ), you return to talk to Chief Kerritamba and he is very angry with you. You will not receive the badge or the Champion Sword. Instead you are given another quest to find things to revive Wirartu. On your way out of the village to find these things, Zhardran, the Outcast Informant, will ask you if you want to learn about the Outcasts as you pass by him. Speak with him here to begin the Outcast quests. You receive the LD-1 Rifle as reward for the final Outcast quest.

Keep in mind that if you do finish Wirartu to do the Outcast quests, you can never achieve the Arena Champion badge, or gain the Champion Sword as the reward. You should, however, finish the quest given by Chief Kerritamba to revive Wirartu. There's a nifty decorative item as a reward for it.

That's the mission where you get the badge and the LD-1. You should have gotten it, was your inventory full?
