Thread: A rifleman's best friend...

I'm a human rifleman. Not the best of choices, but I decided to become a rifleman after 2 months of playing or so and I didn't want to restart my character. My mind stats aren't very good. I have like 875 mind, 565 focus, and 515 willpower. It's about average.

I'm also an Image designer. As some of you may know, Image Design takes from the mind. Simple things take only about 55 mind, but once you get up higher in the tree, some things take about 550 mind for me to accomplish. So, I was grinding Image Design xp last night. I usually take muon gold and grind until I get a downer. Muon gold bumps my stats up to 1375 mind, 1065 focus, and 1015 willpower. It cuts the mind cost of ID actions in half. Most of you riflemen know about muon gold already.

Four of my Master Musician friends were playing their instruments and burning action to help out the medics who needed xp. I love the nargalon, so I decided to listen. I then remembered that Musicians give a mind buff to focus and willpower. Sure enough, my focus was 1500 and my willpower was 1400. At 1500 focus, I was doing ID actions that would take a 500 damage toll on my mind for nothing.

As I kept listening to my friends, then typing /stoplisten, I realized that the mind buffs began to stack. I eventually got my focus up to 4900. I didn't take a screen of that (I was trying to hit 5k), but I did get a screen of it at 4000.

So, in conclusion, find yourself a Master Musician friend. With these buffs, we can be unstoppable. We can attack at no close of mind and in PvP, eyeshot wouldn't even phase us. I know anyone can use this, but it will be of great benefit to all riflemen.

And I know that some of you may know about this already, but I thought I would let people know that these buffs stack if you do it correctly. Hope I helped some struggling riflemen out.

How long did the buffs end up lasting?

I still need to test that, but I think each buff lasts 2 minutes longer than you listened. So if you listened for 15 minutes, the buff will last 30 minutes. It goes up to 1 hour.

However, I was always listening to someone and I was on spice. But I think the hint of spice, then a buff is a good one. Even if you get a downer, you still will have high focus and willpower.

Yes, thats nice, but...

not many master musicians/dancers spent their time in cantinas anymore.

why it takes so long to buff mind/focus/willpowerwhen master doc can buff your stats for 2-3k in less than 5 minutes.

Mmmmmm, Musician (Focus / Will) and Dancer (Mind Pool)buffs are sooooo good..

But they cap out at lasting 30 minutes.. Also, they have to ramp up, so yeah, takes about 10 - 15 minutes to get the full benefit, it wont actually start until after you STOP watching / listening to them & then after about 30 minutes they go away

On Lowca, there is a "cantina" outside of the Imp base on Talus that has a Master Dancer and Musician hanging out all the time. I get mission, visit them for about 10 & head out. I love it, wish it lasted as long as Doc Buffs tho, I would tip them more.

Ooooo the posibilities.....

If you are a master rifleman and can get buffed this well or better right before a PvP factional skirmish.....how deadly would that be? Wouldn't cost you anything to spam SS2 at all the enemies....

*evil grin*

I pointed this out because I don't think doctors can buff mind stats. Only dancers/musicians can. Although... I am not positive about that.

On bloodfin, I'm in an Entertainer PA. If anyone one on Bloodfin would like a mind buff, I'm sure if you contacted somone in our PA, BEG, you would be able to hire someone to give you a mind buff.

You are right Cytherea, only Dancers and Musicians can buff mind. I just wish that those buffs LASTED as long as Doctor buffs.

Doctor buff to Health & Action, what, 2 hours?

Entertainer buffs to mind, 30 minutes. **edit** is that about?

The Dancers and Musicians have some posts on their forum about it. I take the 30 minutes for nowthough. Some is better than none.

I just wish we had control over the buffs. Doctors can create medicine and make more powerful buffs according to their medicine level and the packs they are using. Dancers and musicians just do their thing. If it was more active (determined on how many flourishes/special effects were done), it would be better. However, 30 minutes is better than 10 minutes with muon gold. Hehe. I'll take whatever I can get to stay up longer. I seem to spend more time incapped and looking at the stars.

I'll take Muon Gold - which gives me 10 minutes of god-mode RIGHT when I need it - over entertainer buffs, which take 15 minutes or longer to apply, and will probably run outbeforeI need it.

Convenience is a heck of a lot more important to me thanmaking thenumbers really big, and in practice Muon Gold with capped human mind stats is effectively unlimited mind pool for SS2. It just isn't worth sitting next to a musician and a dancer for 15 minutes or longer every 30 minutes, at least not for PvP, since PvP is so unpredictable. I suppose it might have an application when/if there's a big PvE dungeon to raid.

Sorry, I don't keep a Master Musician in my Data pad all the time.

And drugs are way too expensive for me to chug non-stop.

Yeah, what sucks is how long you have to listen to have a lengthy buff.

A doctor just walks up and pow, +2000 health for like 2 hours, instantly.

Having to sit in a cantina for half an hour is ridiculous. It would be quicker and less painful to just go out and die. I don't even go into cities anymore if I can help it.

Anyway, are you aware you can migrate your stats? As a human rifleman you should have 600 focus and 600 willpower. If you have good access to doctor buffs you can afford to drop a lot of your other stats in favor of mind.
