Thread: Two moves rifleman should have

IMHO:

1. A real sniper shot. Put restrictions on it. Make us take cover, and not be able to shoot for 30 seconds afterwards, but give us a real 1 shot 1 kill ability.

2. Rifle Butt. Rifles can be used for 2 things. Shooting, and knocking down. How often do you see people getting knocked down with the butt of a rifle as compared to pistol whipped.

and an NPC can take 2000 damage to the head from a headshot, and not get knocked down? They got a neck of steel?

I have found that most people are not concerned with play balance, they are more concerned with being able to kill or "win" without any effort.

Actually I could not give a flying crap to balance, I want realism. I want a game that has a modicome of believability, as opposed to being brused easier holding a spraystick then a CDEF Pistol. I'd rather not migrate the "class-think" from the old MMORPG's. But that is just me, I'm a bit funny that way...

we already have a one-shotter. grab a T21 slice it for 25-33% apply a 33% damage attachment and use strafe2. headshot3 isnt that bad with that either.

as for melee attacks?? i would much rather have a distance KD than have to run up to somehting ugly and start idiotically swinging my expensive T21 like a club... if i wanted to be melee i would take up swords or somehting.

being able to break a target down like the big game hunters used to do to large agressive animals like rhinos and elephants make more sense. if you do not know what "breaking down" is in regards to big game hunting it is targeting the knees and legs of the animal to make it drop to the ground as that is generally the only vulnerable targets a charging beast presents. it is a RL KD move that big game hunters from the turn of the century used for real.

You do know you're playing a Star Wars game right?

You know where people shoot lightning out of their hands and have really heavy breathing.

Realism means there would be very little use at all for pistols, 90% of PCs would use rifles because they would be FAR better. TBH I'd take fun over realism.

So would I. But for realism, it should be possible. And also, if we got into a melee with someone, it would give us the opportunity to reduce their posture, allowingto run for distance, so that we could do what we do best, at range.

if you really wanted realism, your "butt stroke" idea would belong to carbineers, not riflemen.

no sniper is going to jack his weapon by trying to bash someone with it. it wouldn't shoot worth a **edit** afterward. that type of approach would be used with a light carbine, like an M-16.
