First off let me say that with new "fix" alot of people are disgruntled and upset because mission are not pating well, and the NPCs and creatures are getting harder and harder to kill and further more there are more of them. It seems you cant walk 50 m without every thing within one parsec attacking you.

Well guys I wrote SWG a 2 page review and complaint letter and got this response:

Hello Daniel,

I read your email and I am sorry you have felt such frustration with the
support you have received from the CSRs and in playing the game. I know
there have been some big changes in the game and there are some upset
people out there. We do care about our customers and want you to be
happy. I have forwarded your email to ingame support. I am in tech
support hence the fact that I cannot address the issues myself. I have
included my personal email address if you have any questions.

Apparently I am not the only one upset at all the stupid changes being made and yes, they kmow it.

Now onto why I think brawler really complements rifleman. First off I am a Army Sniper of some 8 years now so you can imagine why I chose rifleman as my profession...it is what I know.

Well many of you by now have learned that while you can be deadly from a distance, fight melee attackers sucks and you tend to get killed easily when resorting to hand to hand.

Now I like conceal shot alot because i can fire away for quite sometime and take out many animals without them attacking...ever. However when face with this issue with animals that groups or pack attack..conceal shot isnt that effective because when you shoot one, although your current target cannot see you...the rest do and they come runnin! Well I found that with good brawler skills (I am working up the unarmed catagory) your melle attacks are more affective and you last much longer when face with hand-to-hand situations. The reason for this is because with brawler skills you now can evade more melle attacks as well a do more damage with strong melee unarmed skills than you would with even a pistol! I usually shoot an animal from a distance get his health down then holster my rifle and run up an beat the hell out of him for what ever health is left....this gives me the ability to get rifle and unarmed combat skills all in the same fight!

Try it...it works

you are right. It does work. I am a fencer/riflemen currently and it's quite the combo. I pick off enemies with head shot to cull the weak. If someone comes running after men I stand up and go to town on them with my vibro blade. Also the doge bonuses that the fencer gets stack well with the riflemen. I am very happy with my character build and am conviced that to be a good hunter you need to be able to shoot and boot heads.

That's great and I agree it would a good combo of skills, as would Rifleman/Creature Handler or Rifleman/Pistoleer but the thing is, these other professions, Creature Handler, Pistoleer, TKA, BH what have you they are stand alone professions who are balanced enough that they don't NEED these other professions to be consistantly sucessful, the other skills they aquire complement but are not nessasary for their survival. Now, SOE has two options they can pass us off and call Rifleman a "secondary profession" (commandos know this saying well andcringe everytime they hear it), OR soe can take the high road and work to fix our profession so that we are a good profession with it's own special advantages but not overpowered.

if you've read any of the other combat profession forums you'd know that they arent happy either. personally i think there is no stand alone profession. to be truely effective its necessary to branch into others.

I started going Rifle/TKA, but the more I thought about it, the more Rifle/Swordsman seemed the most logical brawler class to go with as Swordsman also does mind damage. That way if/when a creature comes running up, you switch over to your 2-handed weapon and continue doing mind damage. All the other brawler classes you're going to be starting over doing damage in the health/action pools so you basically have to kill the creature twice.

Also, swordsman has their own mind bleeds... imagine stacking your rifle bleed with a sword bleed... you're going to be doing some serious damage...

I really don't think any class is meant to be a "stand alone" class, that's why they gave us enough points to gain many skills and not just enough to master one profession. I think that's a huge misunderstanding by a lot of SWG players and why so many feel their class is underpowered. I honestly don't think it was the intention of the developers to make any class "stand alone". To maximize your character's potential, you have to diversify.

TKA has Master Precision Striking = Headshot 1 (Mind Dmg).

So your theory that fencer is a better combo with Rifleman than TK because fencers can do mind dmg has been challenged.

TKA and Fencer both suck for the rifleman proffesion. Fencer does NO mind damage at all, so its out. TKA has ONE mind attack at the very top of a branch. Pffft.

If your going to combo rifleman with a melee class the ONLY viable class is 2h swordsman. It, just like rifleman, is based on dealing mind damage.

Its stupid to have something almost dead from mind damage, then have to switch to another bar when it gets into melee. Thats like making your enemies twice as strong as they should be.

I'm a novice fencer going up the right side, master ch and about 200k rifle xp from master is a great combo for a rifleman. I can use pets to tank so i can get good xp without dieing and if a PC/NPC/Creature comes at me for melee i can jsut pull out my sword and like someone else said "go to town" with that npc. I just wish i had enough skill pts to get master fencer as a master fencer/master rifleman seems to be the best combo for rifleman. That is just my 2 cents. So mostly what u all are saying

In regards to having a meelee skill to compliment rifleman...

It was a nice thought until this last patch. I was up to expert unarmed with a shiny vibro-knuckler....and then the **edit** patch up the knuckler certicification to TKA novice. Now I just switch to a spraystick when the mobs approach. Yeah, the damage is only around 7-70, but the delay is only 2.0, and all the xp goes to rifle. Also, if you are like me and have points in almost every **edit** profession, you get to save the points you were puting into meelee.
