Greetings Riflemen,

I have just arrived back at the secret Guru-lair (tm) from the Correspondent's revamp summit.

Personal thoughts: I really felt that this was a worth while event and my hat's off to all the folks at SOE for making this happen: Thunderheart, SOETyrant, Keldarin, JustG, Blixtev, and many others really stepped up to the plate and made this a real success.

Now, we have been forbidden by SOE from revealing any details of the revamp at this time. You can, however, expect to see the drafts very soon. The rough timeline, as presented to me, is that we (the devs and corres) will spend the next small slice of time hashing out some more concepts (Waste93 will be a part of that), then y'all will get to see the documents and present your input.

The revamp is impressive, I think. The material we saw and discussed, while early and lacking in some areas, showed a lot of promise and potential. I think that y'all are going to be happy with the role that Rifleman has in the new system. And no, no nerfing into uselessness will occur.

I would like to recognize the efforts of your new Correspondent, Waste93, and in the people that submitted information in the thread on this forum. The efforts of these people, particularly Waste, were very helpful and enabling me to articulate your issues and desires. Most suprisingly to me was how well the devs already knew what y'all wanted and what your issues were.

You will be hearing a great deal about the revamp in the near future. I wish I could go into more detail now, I'm really stoked about this revamp. I think it's really going to put some fun and tactics back in to combat.

As a parting note, before I hit the bed, the combat rebalance sandbox is going to be critical in fine tuning the rebalance. Those of you who will be the rifleman testers on this server have both a duty and opportunity to make a real difference in how this change will be.

Be good and thank you for allowing me to speak for the Rifleman. It was my honor.

you can be sure I'll give the sandbox my full attention. I'm glad to have waste at the helm, and I'm very thankful to the correspondent squad for their reputation in our (and other professions') absence.

I'm glad to hear this trip went well. I hope they actually listened to everyone's concerns, and will simply *do* what needs to be done instead of telling us how it can't be done.

However, I cannot help but be pessimistic, after waiting 9+ months (and leaving the game several times) for the Mythical Combat Revamp (TM) only to find out they have yet to even produce a rough draft of what it will entail...

I'm going to disagree with you a little bit, if you don't mind. There was a whole lot of 'listening' done, on both sides. The information flow was decidedly two way and suprisingly rich and useful. Also, there wasn't a Rifleman concern and wish that Ibrought up that wasn't answered with "Yes, we've heard that". They are reading the forums a lot more than anyone things. They just aren't able to reply to a lot of stuff for a variety of reasons.

On the second issue, they have far more than a rough draft. The material we saw was quite detailed and well thought out. There is more discussion and work needed before they are ready for public consumption, but I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't made public fairly soon (few weeks, maybe? Guessing here, they haven't said when).

It's up to you, of course, but my counsel is to get 'em a chance.

Been there, never finished doing that. Managed to get Master Teras Kasi without too much disappointment... Smuggler is a different story. Spices are next to useless now after the Chef revamp, and they weren't terribly useful before that. Underworld is absolutely worthless unless you PvP, which is dysfunctional at best. Pistol specials are practically worthless without some pistol skill to back them up, which means getting skills in Pistoleer, which is a whole other dysfunctional profession... The only thing in Smuggler that really has any useful demand at all is Slicing.

Until Smuggler is fixed, and Pistoleer is fixed, my Smuggler is sitting on a shelf... she uses TKM to run missions for cash when I need to pay maintenance on that server, and that's about it.

When it comes to the Mythical Combat Revamp, I've been giving them a chance since some time late last year. I've been waiting for well over 9 months now... and finding out that the first expansion pack is coming out months before the original game is fixed has caused me to become extremely jaded. It actually makes me angry that SOE would do this. They have absolutely no right to expect more money for an expansion until their original product is working properly.

Not once since I started playing SWG have I even thought of wanting to fly in a space ship. NOT ONCE. On the other hand, EVERY SINGLE DAY I want the combat system to work properly, and it is still broken.
