That little +5 at master marksman is a hugh deal. As our Rifleman correspondent explained, this is a % reduction. Using the damage calculator, this increases my damage per sec using my T21 using Strafe2 from roughly 1200 to about 2000
Think out that...wow....1200 -> 2000 per second...I really wanted to drop master markman..but for that +5, Ill keep it
Yea I agree that the +5 TOTALLY makes master marksman worth it until you can get yourself +7 in skill tapes, I just recently got my skilltapes, and its a world of difference! But after you speedcap with tapes there is nothing making master marksman worth keeping is what I was pointing out.

Ranged support gives Aim, Warningshot and Suppressionfire. All very helpful tools.

Oh and to answer the other question, I usually use my T21 to hunt Mokks, although I try my best to get Janta missions because they also drop blood and hides. The blood is really valuable (20-150k each) and the hides, if they are +4 or more, can get like 20-100k per set (depending how many are in the set.) Of course the values are going to be different on a server by server basis, but the blood really makes a huge difference in the new poison and disease resist buffs (combine good blood with good Rancor Bile and you have great power and 130+ charges on them.)

ok I'll concede that AIM is nice when going after those defence stackers in PvP, but I have never used warning shot or supression fire, as most mobs are dead by the time they get to me. I don't know how effective suppression fire is in PvP, as I've never used it.

Sigh.. lost my post to the "cant validate your session" BS forum problem..
Anyway... warningshot is very useful when you are getting overwhelmed, or as you get higher in power output when a groupmate is getting overwhelmed.. tag a few of his opponants and refocus on your own and give him a breather as most of his MOBs run off...
The PvP experiences I have had with suppression fire are that it is a decent substitude for KD when 1) you dont have a KD and 2) used against someone without significant posture down defenses.
PvE suppression fire is fantastic as well.. when it sticks it tends to lock them in place (Not NPCs mind you) for 15-20 seconds.. plenty of time to reduce most creatures to a corpse..

I don't mean to play devils advocate here, but with buffs and armor like they are when do you get overwhelmed?I find I can take down a full enraged rancor lair myself in seconds, with most of them dying before they even get to me. If your friend started to get beat down, why not just strafeshot2 them until they are dead. The same thing goes for when to use supression fire? If I can kill it before it gets to me, why bother stun it in place then kill it where it is?

1) why play with buffs and armor when you dont need to add to your expense? Not saying I dont, but buffs are not an argument for not knowing tactics
2) I hunt big things, sometimes stuff I can't take solo (especially as I am working up rifles now, instead of as pistols which you NEED to have more tactics on bigger stuff).
3) Tactical control of a situation gives you more options than just stand there and shoot... something to remember when they hit us all with the armor and buff nerfs that are sure to come from the combat rebalance

Yea I miss having to use tactics, I was a commando when there was the 2.5x damage in effect, so it was TK knockdown, warcry, flame, and then run and I miss those days...but for the time being there just doesn't seem like a need, Hopefullythe whole SWG world is gonna be turned upside down when the CB hits and we will have to play smarter once again.

So play smarter -now-.. get your experience and practice done... go hunting without buffs so you cant spam the heavy shots... you will be well prepared for when the balance hits..
It is also more of a challenge..

Hi, i am going to hunt some Mokk Shamans on Dant to get some money.
I hav'nt played for a while and i'm not up to scratch on our arsenal.
I read somewhere they are Heat Vulnerable, whatis our best gun for this?
Also another quicky,i had to drop Master Marksman cos i needed the skillpoints,
is it worth me hanging on to the Ranged Weapon line (x-x-x-4), is this a useful set of skills to compliment Master Rifleman, or is it a waste of skillpoints?
thanks for any help...
ps. its nice to be back

The only thing that made master marksman worthwhile at all was the +5 rifle speed at the top, its not like master brawler where you get useful skills. The ranged support line is only good so you can tumble for your aspiring doctor friends.

ok thanks for replies, i have taken that on board.
it is obviously not worth me keeping the Ranged Weapon line.
As i stated in my post, i dont have enough sp for master marksman. so no point going there.
What is our best rifle for Hunting Mokk Shamans??
thanks for any help offered
