Hi guys... I've been gone for a good 6 months from the game and have come back and have been having some fun. I'm looking forward to the jedi trials in patch 10 and also the jump to lightspeed. However, I came back with a different attitude (before I left I was almost a master BH and then dropped it all for holo grinding... went thru dancer, merchant and other crap before it finally made me quit the game). So now I chose what I wanted to do by what I enjoy instead of trying for the best class of this or that. It turned out to be Ranger which I really like. I've also coupled it with Creature Handler and am working to master both classes. This however leaves me to choose a combat profession and I would like to choose rifleman based on how 'in character' it seems with my ranger/ch.
I'm unsure as to how many points I'll have left after master ranger/ch, but I was wondering what the best route in rifleman would be for me and what would be the most effective for me? The creatures don't really do much damage anymore, and don't tank as good as they used to, so I have to be fairly efficient at dealing some damage. Obviously the ranger class doesn't help me there either.
So... as far as marksman, do I take just the rifle line? Or do I take the rifles plus the ranged support line? (I already have ranged support 4, and rifles 3) Once I hit rifleman then, is there a specific tree I should go up above and beyond the others? Is there any tree I should not worry about taking if I can't master the class?
I really appreciate any feedback, and so far I'm really enjoying using the rifle!

You are not going to have near enough skill points. By the time you get to Novice Rifleman you will only have 12 points left. That is enough to take three boxes in one branch. Not enough to make much of a difference since you'll need both speed and accuracy.
If you really want to do a combat profession you are going to have to drop either some CH or Ranger skills. It's going to depend on how you want to play it.

Agreed, novice rifleman plus three boxes isn't going to rellay appeal to you, because you'll either have decent accuracy at range. lousy acc at point blank, with really slow shots, or +60 speed with no accuracy bumps, resulting in an only slightly faster rifleman who cannot hit anything. My Advice for you is to either considering giving up CH, since it's much less effective than before. A Master rifleman/ranger is a very handy combo, and you'll be in demand whenever animals have good loot drops. Otherwise, if you are bent on keeping some combat skills, get TKA novice or fencer novice. I prefer tka novice, as i'm a tkm, but even with novice, you'll get unarmed hit 2, which does pretty decent damage, a big unarmed damage bump over unarmed 4, and with some high speed vks, you'll get close to speed capping your attacks, if not speed capped. i'd put the balance of my points in the balance line, to get some defense mods. Or, if you get fencer, you'll get some nice melee and ranged defense bumps: novice fencer is +15 melee defense, and going 3000 fencer would give you +39 ranged defense +54 melee defense.

actually id drop most of ranger keep tracking 4 go to master CH and u can nearly get master rifleman but im not sure u'd have to check the skillpoints.
master CH gives tanks that can have massive HAM and Kinetic if u try. rifleman need a tank to begin with a good CH is a great prof and i dont know y so little do it as Rifleman maybe cause not the best PVP in the world but great in PVE

If you did that you could have at least three full branches of Rifleman. In that case I would go all the way up Accuracy and Rifle Abilities. That will give you the best non-Master accuracy and speed. I'd go at least Counter-Sniping III which will give you the best AoE attack you'll be able to get. Then I'd pick up Concealment I for ConcealShot. You can pick up some more Concealment if you want Ranged Damage Mitigation but it may not be necessary. So at least for you I'd go 4/1/3/4 and if you have enough points left over pick up Novice Medic for Stim B's maybe.

Thanks for the responses so far. I see that only partial rifleman isn't much of a help. I thought maybe taking the first three boxes in sniping might be enough to do damage with headshot3 and a bleed while my master creature handler pets tanked? Do you think that i'll miss too much this way?
I'm pretty set on getting master ranger and keeping it. It's sort of a playstyle I think I've chosen now. I also like creature handler, and like it even more now that it's sort of cleansed of the people who took it just because it was the most effective and exploitive class. (I don't mean offense there, I'm just one of those people who like Creature Handler just to look at all the cool creatures)
So let's say I want to do Creature Handler and get master or maybe just close to master. Maybe just get the tame skills up to where I can train and tame up to level 50 maybe? Allowing me to get one full branch in rifleman... would that work at all?
If not, the gentleman who talked about taking the tkm instead... does it require master brawler? I haven't done tkm before but do find it interesting.
Thanks!

So do you post that stuff just to get your number of posts up then? Or are ya really just that stupid? Seeing as it looks like you started SWG after I did.

LOL... I figured. hehe. I re-read mine and thought it actually came across nasty instead of me poking back at ya, so I made sure to put the winky face so you knew I was poking fun.
Sad part is... I AM A NOOB again. At least it damn well feels like that. Quite a few changes since I left.
You've been on a long time Liaky... what do you play the game for now? PvP? Just to hang out with friends? What do you like about it now?

well TKM probable the best for u as u only need unarmed in the brawler prof and it does more damage than rifleman at lower levels. and with good Vibro Kunucklers u can get pritty fast attacks
