Im currently working on my BH/Pistoleer template, but i suck so much at PvE that im planning on hunting some jeds then going to an all out PvE template. NOw i do fancy either Rifleman or swordsman, but ranged would be preffered.

So imagine i was a master rifleman now, what would you guys say would be the best proffesion to supplement my rifles for PvE.

Prefferably a ranged combat prof, but all suggestions are welcomed.

Is Mrifles Mswords any good? or what about Mrifles/Mpistols for when those cheeky things get close

Thankyou for your time.

But how would this be helpful.

I see where your going, your defense stacking, but what if im shooting and get agroed and something comes a bit too close for comfort. My uber rifle skills arent gonna be much good, theyll be good, but itll be easier with a melee/pistols or something proffesion.

well to be honset I jst think its a great template:

Master Rifleman - rules its powerful and strong in pve

Investigation - Need fun to hunt Jedi

TKA 0 3 0 0 - melee mitigation 2 which reduces melee dmg taken by 60%

Novice medic - use low stim Bs and u can do 300-400 heals

If you plan on hunting Jedi with a ranged profession, you'll need a high potency, highstrengthFire DoT weapon to stand a chance against the higher level ones. Even then, it's not a sure thing. With MR alone, you'll be fine for lower-level Jedi. But they might not be as fun

Melee professions are far more effective against Jedi, especially if you stack your defenses. And then, you'll still need anti-status food(what kinds depend on how well your defenses are stacked), Mind food/drink, buffs, spice, LS PSGs, Medic and a CoB macro. Good thing armor is LS vulnerable- you don't have to waste credits on that

And to answer the other part of your question:

Swordsman complements Riflemanvery well. Pistols, not so much. TKAcomplements anything really, but the headhits aren't as good as Swordsman. Fencer complements things well defensively, but do little to complement a Rifleman's offense. Pike is fun and adds Block, but also lacks headhitsand its defenses pale to those of the other melee professions.

I'm Mastering Rifleman now and plan on picking up TKA to supplement. The meditation ability and the large def mods are what drew me in, along with the knockdown. I can see how swordsman would suffice, with thier specials aiming for the same pools.

Thanks for the help gents.

I will probably go for master swords master rifleman with some medic and scout.

You guys think i would be able to solo lots of high end mobs with this? like would i be able to solo a Krayt? or a GDK?

Thats basically what im interested in.

Be prepared(armor, buffs, stims, food/drink) and you should have no problem with most of those bigger mobs(though ancient krayts could be tricky)

As far as PvE is concerned I'm loving pistoleer/rifleman combo. When they aggro in up close you can pistol whip them to put them down to give you enough time to move away and you also give the creature/npcs a smaller to hit bonus against you on top of great pistoleer defences. Plus you are a pistoleer to begin with so that's a nice bonus. Against NPCs in particular if your flushing shot lands but causes aggro and it did the dizzy then psitol whip them, back up kneel wiht your rifle and let them have it.

GDK? Solo? Pack a lunch, my friend. GDKs are nasty...even in groups. You could probably get away with Conceal Shotting one, but that's gonna take a while. Honestly, the most effective way to hunt GDKs is in a small group with some Riflemen, Swordsmen, and a Doc or two. I'm not saying they can't be soloed, but there's virtually no way you can go toe-to-toe with one. I've seen them land bleeds for over 1000 HAM points...not pretty.

ROFL... GDKs are cake for my server. I conceal shot em with a T21.. sure it takes an hour but i run a macro and go watch tv. And in any case, I've seen plenty of stackers kill it easy. It's not the bleeds... i don't even think it bleeds you very often, but it does have some pretty nasty desease.. a good stacker will have it down in no time before the desease can do anything.. less it hits your mind :/

As for the mitigation, I don't know about the percentages, but let's just assume it is 60%. It would take away 60% of the damage range.. not the total damage... so if somthing hits you that has a huge gap between min and max damage it will help alot. But if there isn't a big difference between min and max damage it doesn't do hardly anything. But the gap does get bigger when special multiplyers are added.. hmmm not sure if mitigation is done before or after specials..
