Thread: Petition to end mind damage from shooting one's rifle
The more I go up on the rifleman tree, the more I realize how bad things are for this class. I'm doing more damage to myself than the enemy is!!
I'm suggesting that the mind damage one receives when shooting a rifle be removed, or at least, make the 'random pool' that other weapons do be limited to health and action (meaning the only weapon that can do mind damage is from a rifle).
Considering we cannot heal our mindsin the field without a camp, we should have some compensation that balances the amount of damage we inflict upon ourselves. Either the mind damage we do to ourselves should be eliminated (or at least decrease with skill, not increase), or no weapon should do mind damage except rifles.
I personally think implementation of both of these would be the best way to balance this class, however, one or the other would still suffice.
Please note whether you agree or disagree, but keep comments civil as that is the only way this issue will ever be looked at and perhaps resolved.

Stat migrate massively to substats. Problem solved.
Eh? State Migrate CAN help, but cannot solve the problem at all. The mind cost on rifles is too high for that.
Browse your favorite weaponsmith's stock or put in a special request for a low HAM cost rifle. I suggest a DLT20a, possibly an E11. My DLT has mind cost in the low 20's, and although its damage potential isn't as high as a laser or T21, it isn't too shabby. Add the fact that you are shooting once per second on most specials at master, and it doesn't take long to drop a target, or a whole squad of targets with our great AoEs.
Consider foods/spice. I recommend Angerian Fishak, a good one can add more then 400 to your mind pool for quite a long time, with very limited side effects and no downer. Others swear by spices like Muon Gold. I shy away from these, but depending on an individual's playstyle, they may be ideal.
Entertainer buffs are your friend. A dancer buff doubles your mind pool, which means you can shoot twice as long, or absorb more shots to the head (pesky BH's!). A musician buff doubles your focus and willpower. With one of these active, I can spam specials with my high HAM cost T21 without even putting a dent in the ol' mind pool... It suddenly makes you more concerned about the *health and action* costs of your rifles. Combine with doctor buffs to health and action secondaries, and you are a godlike force of destruction. Just remember to show your gratitude by greasing the entertainer/doc's palms.
I feel your pain regarding the high costs of our specials, and once felt that we should ask for an across the board lowering of the costs, possibly even a switch to a healable pool as suggested. However, after adjusting my methods a bit via the above suggestions, I have found that I can live with the costs and other penalties of our profession. In all honesty, I feel like at master the sheer power of our class is on par or better than other combat professions when solo, and just plain incredible when we have some support. Novice can be tough, especially in the early goings. However, your patience is rewarded greatly at the end!

humans and zabraks can migrate there focus to 1100, do this and you wont even notice your mind bar move hardly.
Thats a nice advice! Whats your advice for Twi'leks who max at 500 will/focus?
Im out of a fight in 10 secs if im not using moun gold/breath of heaven.

It would help if buffs were not bugged.
I have never had any problems with buffs, entertainer or otherwise. I have heard people say that removing armor while getting a buff has helped. A nuisance, perhaps, but might be worth a shot anyway?
When I eat 2 lots of mind food only the first one raises my stats correctly.
So say I have 600/600 focus and eat 2 lots of food that raise focus by 150. I then get 750/900, however when the food buffs run out my focus goes to 450 and will not return to 600 unless I die.
This seems to happen when using moun gold or mind food with doctor buffs, which I'm sure you can imagineis rather annoying for meas I have just dropped TKA to raise Doctor.
This bug was introduced with the big patch a couple of weeks ago. My guildmate who was a Master Chef just dropped the entire chef line because he is sick of the bugs.
