Hello,
I'm working my way up the rifleman tree and I wanted to ask what is the best type of armor to buy. An Armorsmith suggested Ubese, due to it's high Kenetic protection. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm deciding btween Tantel, Marabi, and Ubese. Thanks so much

another option is to go do King Teraks missions on endor. he gives you marauder armor - only leggings, biceps, and chest plate. I'm told it can be sliced for effectiveness/encumberance as well.

the armor has 25% special against kinetic, 15% against everything else except stun, electricy, and blast.

best part - it only uses 10 mind encumberance for each piece. if you want a full suit of low mind + kinetic protection, have an armorsmith fix you up with ubese or mabari armor pieces to complete the suit. also, a composite chest plate (sliced for encumberance) looks really cool with this armor, and mind cost will be under 20 - not TOO bad. (i just luv the look though).

thats the way i'm going. i will also have a full suit of insane mind-cost composite for when i'm buffed and drugged + pvp'ing. (i'm going to try it anyways).

haha my full suit of composite is 364/319/399 52% base with 60% electric...the helmet alone is the worst part, even with a 40% slice to ecumberance it's 185 mind cost, I usually dont' even wear it other then for show...the chest and leggings i think ones at 92 and the other at 110...why's teh mind have to be so high compared to the other 2 major components...then on all the sub piecies i think mind is the highest value as well...I dunno about composite armor int eh ecumb sense but I know it saves me a lot.

Might sound silly but for if you insist on armor for pve (youre dead meat anyway when a bigger mob slaps you) get a nice mabari set. Ultra low encumberance but halves kinetic damage (that all animal mobs do).

I did all pve without armor. I do pvp with a mixed marauder/tantel/chitin set, so I get many damage types covered and encumberance is in control.

Ubese aint that bad with the exception of the helm, the mind encumberance is pretty high on it.

Personally I just depend on the "I hope they dont warp on top of me" defense. As long as they dont I am usually OK as far as PvE is concered. PvP is a whole different matter. Some people recomend composite but I personally go with a sheild generator. I only use them durring pvp so they dont wear out as fast. Normally though they wear out very quickly. That is the reason I dont use in PvE.

Composite works great for PVP (I have a full suit sliced for resistances on everything but helm, which is 40 some % encumberance). But you have to spice yourself up if you are not a Doctor, that is the part that kills most riflemen. This teamed up with a MK3 is what I wear in PvP and it works great... that is usually because in group battles, I only use SS2 or anything other than Sniper Shot when I must, and in 1v1, I only wear armor if I am against a Commando or any other high damage dealing class.

As for PvE, I would personally recommend no armor at all, and lots of crates of Muon Gold and other mind/focus/willpower enhancing foods.

whats the point of paying for drugs and shield generators and armour for PvP... you're not making any of your money back, while the BHs and CHs and Commandos dont need any of that to own you.

Wearing a full suit of composite means you get to fire off 4 specials before its sit-down time

bounty hunters just LOOVE riflemen with full composite, because the rifleman's specials help the BH along with his eye shots!

you're so full of sh|t harpoon. you clearly have no experience pvp against commando's or BH's and you clearly are not a master rifleman.

"whats the point of paying for drugs and shield generators and armor for PVP...you're nort making any of your money back, while the BH's and CH's and commando's don't need any of that to own you."

so utterly and completely WRONG.

if a dude isn't wearing armor pvp, Ione, two, or threeshot him with my T21. if he IS wearing composite, It takes 5 shots max with my jawa, and take very minimal dmg to myself if i'm wearing armor.

"wearing a full suit of composite means you get to fire off 4 specials before it's sit-down time".

again, WRONG.

1. it's called STAT MIGRATION. put as much into your mind as you can, for PvP.

2. you will most certainly get off more than 4 shots unless you're using the craziest mind cost on your T21 or Laser. and even then, 4 is unreasonably low and is not true, unless you're playing with Pistoleer HAM stats... in which case, you're an idiot.

3. 4 shots + sniper shot is usually enough to kill most opponents anyway.

"Bounty Hunters just LOOVE rifleman with full composite, because the rifleman's specials help the BH along with his eye shots!"

maybe they like YOU, because you're a moron. If you're wearing a composite helmet, and have appropriate rifleman stats, Eyeshot will do minimal dmg to you before your enemy goes down. obviously you've never tried armor, are not master, do not pvp.

At first i thought your breath was bad... but now i see you're just talking out of your ass!

Composite works great against a commando that uses burst run to get close.

You can set up a macro to remove / equip your armour, makes it easier to regen your mind after a battle.

my stats are already high for mind

i cant my my secondary stats for action and health any lower, my health is at 900 and my action at 850. Get it any lower and I'll be getting one shotted by pistoleers.

I PvP more than you do, and I dont pvp with big groups to back me up vs single opponents like you do and then say that "rifles are good"

rifleman's speed is being capped to 3 with the next patch anyway

pistols are capped at 1 and good ones do do nearly as much damage as goodrifles, and more damage than average rifles, with much higher accuracy

How do you know that you PVP more then... Jeisyn... maybe it was Selfyn... i forget

But anyways, you must be utterly moronic or something, the whole point of PVP is to have fun, you might not get nothing back in return, but its fun none the less. Also Riflemen arent solo PVPer's, we are more or less group support, in solo PVP a master can get wasted fairly easily.

in my humble opinion, and experience, you can safely lower your health and action to at least 750 - put secondaries at 400, and just use stims when you need. pour the rest into mind.

pistoleers and bh's won't be able to one-shot you. show me proof of this.

put on some nice light armor - as many people have suggested.

i've posted dozens of things in various threads to try and shake you of your erroneous opinion that our class is crap PvP. if you're unwilling to try different, and perhaps even unconventional things in order to be effective, then you deserve to be beat.

the only person holding you back, PvP, is you. I go into Bestine overt (reb) alone quite often and do just fine, thanks.
