Im thinking of combining Rifleman with a melee specialisation, either Swordman or Teras kasi, and my character is a Trandoshan. Would anyone care to venture which they think i should go with, im having trouble as teras kasi sounds cool, and Trandoshans are suited to unarmed combat, but having a big blade too hold is cool too, so Id like to know which is more effective overall?

Go two handed swordsmen. If you look at the special moves, they attack the mind, making it a perfect augment for a Rifleman.

Thats cool, outfit my character with a nice sword and rifle, some ornamental armout and you have a Trandoshan samuri. Roll on mercenary/Hutt factions though, I want to kill for profit and personal glory after all, and Im doing this because Bounty Hunter seems it may be more trouble than its worth.

I'm going riffleman/tka with my trandoshan. Trandoshan has unarmedhead strikeat Master Precision level. So, be sure to pump your combat exp into tka first. Also asa trandoshan you get unarmed race bonus to hit that will we useless as a swordman. If I was going to make a riffleman/fencer I would probably go Zabrak.

I'm going TKA / Rifleman for 2 reasons. TKA has a mind shot later in the precision striking tree, and Rifleman gives melee defense bonuses in rifle specialist treewhich will add on top of a Trandoshan's starting mods.

Cheers!

PvP, it's not a question. 2 hander so you get both the only AR 3 ranged weapon, and the only AR 3 melee weapon. PvE, it's I would say TKA.

Well, my Trandoshan character is currently a Teras Kasi Master and Novice Sharpshooter. I must say that it is very rewarding. The best thing about the TKA/Rifleman combination is that you are powerful at the longest range and at the shortest range. The Swordsman Head Shot is not a good reason for Swordsman to better compliment the Rifleman profession, as TKA also sports a very nice Head Shot. You'll do much more damage as a TKA, topped off by self wound healing of meditate and quick posture recovery of Combat Equillibrium. But the bottom line is... do you think it's more fun to use a sword or your fists/feet?

I guess I might go TKA then, but could someone tell me what the Two-hand curved sword is like? Is it like a Katana or more like a Saber?

Okay, Im thinking

Master Unarmed

Master Rifle Specialisation

Exploration IV for more freedom of movement which is good for both rifle and TK

Master Rifleman

Master Teras Kasi

How does that sound?

hi

i'm a rifleman / TKA and i would highly advise not to pick the combo.

while at 1st this was greta, especially at low skill levels when going against easy mobs cause i could switch fast and win most fights instead of having to run and kite, at the higher levels (skill levels) its turning out to be quite a drag.

the biggest problem is that TKA relies on health / action, while rifleman on mind. this forces me to split up all my stats and keep a high midpool to be effective with rifles which is very very bad. because of this i have a lower pool stats as well as usage and regen stats for all 3. also because of my lower pool stats i have drastically reduced survivability.

as i advance i am finding it more and more difficult to fight mobs equal level as i cannot outlast them due to the problems stated above. this is in fact so bad, i am at this point very seriously considering ditchinbg teh rifleman part of my toon and going for pistols or carbines.

the best advice i can give you, is that if you go for melee/ranged combo, ANY melee/ranged, make sure that both your ranged and melee use the mainly the same stats so you dont end up being weak in any of em with mediocre survivability at best. to my understanding swords have a lot of "mind" stuff in it, but i am not sure, check the skill tree and ask on the melee forums. but if you want to go with rifles make sure you pick a melee that also uses mind as its main stat, or if TKA switch to pistol/carbine, you'll be far better off. i have tried a TKA / pistol combo on another server while mine was down last weekend, and it freagin knocks the socks of off TKA / Rifleman, as both TKA and pistols use and do damage to the same pools.

I'm going the rifleman/swordsman route and it is working out very well for me. The problem with TKA is that you don't get the mind hit until the Master level of the TKA precision striking tree. With swordsman, you get the head hit at the advanced level of the Brawler 2H sword tree. In other words you will get the mind hit with 2H sword really early on in your career, whereas you get the TKA head hit really late in your career. Swordsman also gets area attacks and a mind DoT that are very useful, again at relatively low levels of skill. So swordsman is a much better option if you don't want to wait that long, or you don't intend to go to Master level with your melee skill.

TKA has a lot more utility overall, if you go all the way to Master. But if you're just using melee to clean up and deliver the killing blows, swordsman is probably better because you won't have to go very high in the tree. I'm not going for master in my melee skill, so swordsman works out really well for me.

If you dont want to spend to many points to get a good melee addition to rifleman, your best bet would be to go Swordsmen(2h).

But, what you all need to remember is to get first aid 2. No matter what your spec everyone should have firstaid 2. Unless you want to bleed to death . First aid 2, gives you /firstaid wich cures bleeds.
