Thread: I need a bit of advice...

Id say just do TKM/rifleman, I racked up some serious pvp points there. Shame on anyone who said TKM sucks because of armor. The whole point of tka is that you can deliver rapid blows and apply all of the available state effects. You need to go from intimidate to stun to blind to dizzy (if you can land that) and then most of a defense stackers defenses are dead and you have a very potent KD and there is a good chance that if you can time yourself you can get them knocked down while still spamming unarmed head hit.

Another note, NEVER switch to your rifle in melee combat unless your opponent is KD/dizzy. Once you switch to your rifle the opponent gets a to hit bonus on you AND your unarmed toughness skill mod isnt in effect so you take A LOT more damage.

The benefits of rifleman/tka are as follows: Ranged/Melee defenses, all possible status effects, mind damaging attack, ranged/melee fighting capabilities, and meditation to heal up any poison/disease or wounds you recieve along with PB and force of will.

Combined with anything else, this template is a force to be reckoned with.

I think people try and pull the 80% armor makes TKM useless argument way too much. For one, what damage type can't get 80%+ resists? Only stun, but with stun-layered armor and an imperial psg the only one who can deal any decent stun damage is a rifleman. TKM has great status attacks(blind, stun, dizzy) all at the speed cap as well as great defenses, not to mention one of the coolest profession lines in the game (meditate). With the fix of Fencer's bugged attack what do they have going for them? Good defense and an AP0 stun weapon.

So TKM is still a viable pvp profession, of course you are still pretty susceptible to poisons/disease, unless you manage to kill the person fast and can meditate it off (good luck). So you'll have to spend a lot of your pvp'ing grouped with a doctor to be better off.

Some of the best pvp'ers I know are still TKM/doctor, and they manage to do quite well despite the existence of 80% kinetic armor.

Thanks a lot for your opinions and advice! I think I have found my path and it will be MR/TKM/Fencer and hopefully that will give me all I need for both PVP and PVE combat. Playing is believing so here goes nothing! Again, many, many thanks to all for their support!

what are your plans for fencer? I'd suggest just getting the status defense lines because I don't think you'll need any more ranged/melee defense. Also you'll probably want to get novice medic.

I want my melee and range defenses capped at ALL costs!!! I thought Fencer would be a good way to do that, plus it would give me the ability to do some Stun Damage as well. What would having Novice Doctor do for me as opposed to Fencer or anything else? I don't want to grind a medical profession unless it's critical that I do so.

A note you'll wanna take into consideration before getting all of the Melee/Ranged Defense line of Fencer is that with your template it caps at 1/0/0/0 Fencer

Well, this is my veryfirst post here and I hope it's a successfull one. First off, I'm currently a Master Marksman, as well as an Engineer and an Explorer, but I want to go hard-core PVP so I've dumped all of my Artisan skills, but I'm holding on tomy scout skills for terrain navigation and burts run purposes. I've made the decision of going for Master Rifleman, but I'm wondering what else to do as well. At first I was thinking that I'd go for the typical Master Rifleman/Fencer template, but I'm now having second thoughts about that. I'm thinking that now I'd like to go Master Rifleman/TKM, but I'd like to some input-advantages/disadvantages-on this choice. My reason for picking TKM over Fencer is simply the fact that TKMs can do more kenetic damage than fencers. Is this the correct reasoning for picking TKM over Fencer or do Fencers have other abilites that I'm overlooking? Any and all advice concerning this matter would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there another combination of skills/professions-template-that you all have found to be successfull to a Master Rifleman PVPer out there?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

short answer 80% composite pretty much negates TKM. chef food can even eliminate the danger of KD/dizzy and most pvpers are defense stackers and one routine johnies with their ackley batons... TKM/rifle against the typical golden template pvper and your going to lose. but its just the nature of PVP in a turn based combat MMO that relies on dice rolls instead of player skill.

you can get TKM and Fencer both, and in my opinion this is a "golden" template capped Ranged and Melee defense, with high defense vs states and a nice Melee and Ranged prof, along with Meditate it makes it a hardcore PvP template I dont use Fencer as my main prof though, its my support prof for both TK and Rifleman

yeah its just a matter of personal style and all. i prefer offense over defense. if you kill the target fast enough you wont need a defense...

but try out whatever profession you want. they are all easy to master or even go partially up certain trees in each. go try out a template and see if YOU like it or not. it doesnt matter what i like. i used to PVP with pets after they were nerfed...

Yeah, I was just looking at that actually and thinking the same exact things! I'm pretty sure this will be the path I take although my friend is curently a Master Combat Medic and is half way to becoming a Master Carbineer and he says that I should try to become a Master Rifleman/Master Combat Medic. Medical professions have never been anything that I've been interested in, but if they help me to become uber when it comes to solo and/or group PVP than that my be something for me to think about. What do you all think??
