It was Endor. Just last night, in fact. See, I've always loved Endor, and do much of my serious hunting and honing of skills there. Anyhow, I'd been honing my trapping techniques, and was sure I was close to a breakthrough, so I went looking for a hunting party.

Well, I see this human woman, all wrapped up in that armor that my smaller comrades seem to favor, sitting her speederbike calm as you please. I hit her up for a bit of hunting, explaining my need for backup and all, and she looks at me for a moment. It's hard to read eyes inside those damned helmets, but I think she was sizing me up, 'cause the next thing she did was pull me aside and tell me, in a quiet tone, that she was Jedi, and needed to keep her secrets safe.

Well now, I'm not one to be causing trouble for anyone, and anyone his Imperialness wants dead has my sympathy. So we head out into the wilds. Next thing I know, I'm all but surrounded by Jedi. Woman's trying to start up some sort of council, I suppose. Most of her little group is scattered, keeping within distance to come to assist if needed, but each hunting their own prey.

Me, I'm tossing my traps for all I'm worth, and taking the occasional potshot with my 'caster.. but in between, I'm checking the ground, keeping track of the scattered group, and alerting 'em if I see any unfamiliar tracks. My partner didn't need much assistance from me otherwise, but she let me know by the end of our hunting expedition that she felt much safer with me keeping a close eye out. No one got near without me spotting their tracks first, and thus, the evening passed without undue distress.

That, my friends, is part of what being a Ranger is all about.. Keeping my comrades safe when they're in my territory.

I awake every morning next to hot coals, stand up and stretch my little Bothan legs....and take in a breath of fresh air. My life is one of constant danger, mishaps, and best of all relaxation. I'de like to tell each of you about yesterday, or was it the day before?

I woke up bright and early, just like any other day. Nothing was unusual yet, but that was about to change. As I was eating my breakfast, a few town dwellers came asking me about krayt dragons. I started to tell them that a dragon isn't something to be playing with, but you know how those townies are. Anyhoo, I pointed them in the direction of one, because I happen to know where a few of them bed down. I offered them some food to take along with them, and a few bandages. They wouldn't accept them, I'm supposing pride got stuck up there where their brains are supposed to be.

I decided to guide them there, maybe it was curiosity, maybe I was just bored. We arrived in the bedding spot to find that the dragon wasn't there. They started hollering 'an cursing me and my skills....and I couldn't help but laugh. I could see the dragon on the top of the hill, but they didn't bother to look. I slowly raised my hand to point out the dragon, fearful that it might have located me at the same time I saw it. The young 'uns started their charge up the hill, as I made my retreat down the hill. I heard a few screams, and saw an arm go a 'whizzin by me. I stopped only long enough to take the gun out of the clenched hand, and continued down the hill towards the sand dunes.

After getting to the bottom of the hill I dug in and waited a little while....and didn't hear anything else. I took the time to inspect the gun, and saw the mark of the infamous krayt hunting team right there on the side. It said CDEF very plainly.

You see? That's why I love being a ranger. I don't have to talk to townies much, because out where I am, they don't live very long...hee hee hee
