Thread: So long, you beautiful Rangers!

I've decided that with the impending Imperial Crackdown and no sign of Wookiee armor on the horizon, I'm going to have to drop my support abilities and focus on keeping my own hide safe. It's with deepest regret that I had to drop my Ranger (and soon, CH) abilities to pursue the ridiculously powerful and super-popular TKA path, as well as mastering my first love, Rifleman.

You guys and gals are all awesome, and Nraas, you're clearly the most together correspondent of the bunch. I'll come back to Ranger as soon as I can, and I truly hope we finally get the respect and skill set that sets us apart.

Harvest on, Rangers!

I hear you, not having armor is killing me but I can't let Ranger go...not yet. Its probably the wrong decision and I'll probably die a lot but at least I'll have fun in doing so. Good luck, hopefully your absence will be short.

Just mastered Ranger, also a wookiee, also a rifleman, and I don't intend on dropping Ranger anytime soon. G'luck on your other journeys.

I dropped ranger yesterday man that stung. It's really the title that i loved more then anything else. I was master ranger/master rifleman and kept getting killed when the monsters would get close to me. I didn't feel like going the ever popular TKA path for decent close quarter combat. Instead i just opted to go CH so some animals can tank for me. I'm keeping as much of tracking as I possibly can but that's about it.

It's a shame so many Rangers are leaving the profession. I know I left but I hope to come back soon. As for the crackdown, you shouldn't be worried. I've been a Master Rifleman for a while (which can be done even with Master Ranger) and storm troopers and such rarely hurt me. And I never wear armor, despite being a Bothan. Wookies are even better off, given their higher stats. Play the game for fun, don't worry about winning or losing (I know that sounds hypocritical but despite leaving Ranger to try and get an FS slot I have yet to do a profession I hadn't considered doing anyway before hand--I don't really expect to succeed for now). Whatever you decide, good luck to you.

Hmm. You were having trouble killing stuff as a Master Ranger/Master Rifleman? Are you sure you might not be using the wrong tactics? The creatures should be dying before they get near to you. Just use the single pull skill, /concealshot, or /strafeshot2 from the rifleman tree. And things like suppression fire or warning shot if you have them. Very little really stands a chance against a master rifleman. You can dish out several thousand damage a shot and you shoot once a second. If you do want to skip the CH and go back to Master Ranger but want a few extra hints as to how to effectively kill stuff with rifleman, send an ingame tell or mail to Lythender on Eclipse and I'll try and help you out. Even krayt killing is possible solo as a master rifleman (although finding them is much easier for a ranger).

Happy hunting. Hopefully your journeys will return you to here. Remember, Master Ranger is just a title. That doesn't mean you won't be one at heart.
