Lately, I've been noticing that very little of my combat ability comes from ranger, even though it is a "combat class" according to the IC threads. We are required to enter combat in order to get anywhere with ranger. Our main skill, harvesting, requires combat to take the creature down that you harvest. Throwing a trap is a combat action. Only the frontiering line is not combat oriented - it is actaully anti-combat, as your camp disbands during combat.

And still, rangers get next to nothing in the way of combat skills. The only combat assistence that ranger provides is the creature to-hit bonus. All that this does is to make you more likely to hit a creature while on auto-fire with a ranged weapon. And yet still we are supposed to be a combat oriented creature hunting class, according to the developers.

Ranger is in dire need of combat skills of its own, that allow a ranger to battle in PvE without the need for any other combat professions orskills. As of now, all rangers need an elite combat class to supplement ranger skills. Mastery, or something close to this, of said combat profession is almost required to get anywhere as a ranger. Mastering an elite combat profession along with mastering ranger, however, takes up even more SP than mastering Bounty Hunter!

Rangers should have combat skills of their own, so that they don't need to take up another profession just so they can do the job that the ranger class should be able to do on its own. We need combat abilities in our own profession, independant of any other combat classes.

Combat class?

Nope, we are combat support as far as I know. Rangers have no inherent combat abilities, can't really count traps, as they don't work in PvP...yet.

We can get all kinds of combat skills, pick what you want. It's not like Ranger eats up all your points. I do fine in combat, PvP, without my Ranger skills, and with em, I kick major butt. My TN helps me beatus feetus should the need arise. My Areatrack is unparalleled in finding the "hidden" enemy coming to attack - direction, distance, names even. I have even maskscented, attacked an aggro mob and drug them through an overt Imperail crowd, and died laffing while they died. And used no skills other than what I had as a Ranger.

I chose Pistoleer, Mastered it.Or master Rifle, Carbine, TK, Pike....the list goes on and on. You can triple master and still have some points left to grab medic if ya want.

Humble opine - drop that master marksman crap and if you want combat, the CH, it's a dabble at best. Pick a weapon, master it, and then tell us you suck at combat. Oh, you pick carbine, you will die, sucks unless and until they fix it.

Now, go forth and kill the other side

I PvP way more than I should, but enjoy it. I know I have incapped more of them than I have been incapped. Not many DBs, I let the meleers get em.
