Not exactly the same, but close to it.

Standard scenario - I get a tell "You can find me an animal? You are a Master Ranger."

reply - "I can find animals within 500 meters of my location if they have spawned. I charge 25k creds per hour, or any part thereof, and success is not guaranteed."

Then they want to ask about 20 questions, so I respond with " Anwering questions starts your hour, please tip me the 25k, once I get the email, I will answer your questions."

Needless to say, I don't get a lot of animal tracking business, thank goodness.

And of course, you get the questions about animals and what planet - I swear, the Master Ranger and seachable is coming down.

I don't find Krayts for groups, I find food for the Krayts... works out well. They seem to enjoy it.

It is a very misunderstood profession to those who aren't involved in it.

I always have to explain tracking to people.

And I too am dropping the Master Ranger title. To much of a hassle to display it.

I know exactally what your talking about. On the Eclipse server the city i live in is located just outside the Krayt Graveyard. I could throw a Jawa from my house to it. So i'm always gettin a /tell saying "Can you find a Krayt for me?"

I have alot of people ask "how does it work?" I really dont think they understand the whole tracking thing. I remeber i told one group i would do a few tracks in the general area of the graveyard for free (I was in one of those "i feel like helping people out" moods that day )So off i went, tracking the area, seeing what i could find. Meanwhile, i kept getting /tell's from the people in the group saying "Did You find one?" "Whats taking so long". I guess they think we have this Uber skill that allows us to find anything we want whenever we feel. I had to go on and explain that it's not a guarantee that i find one for you, but i wil do what i can.

I dont really mind it though. I like helping people out as much as i can, and making money for doing so isnt all that bad either.

I try to spend more time explaning how tracking works nowadays than tracking.

Seems to save time really.. Once they see our "bug" issue, they usually leave me be.

A buddy of mine offered to pay me 25k for every Peko Peko Albatross I find because he knew I had tracking skiils. I have spotted 2 since but each time it wasn't from using /areatrack but just by happening upon them (one had spawned outside the front door to my mountain home!). But did I tell him this? Heck no. Gotta keep up appearances.

I've been able to avoid people who just don't understand what "tracking" means. Though I suspect it's a matter of time before someone wants me to spawn a Kryat for them.

Next time someone does that, make their brain hurt by asking them "Do you think if we were really out in the forest the meer act of LOOKING for Deer tracks would make one spawn???" That should keep em quiet for a bit while they think about that one.

I normaly hunt with my guildmates, and they seem to understand how track works pretty much. They don't even ask for a waypoint if I say there is something 300m to the north. They know to turn north and walk for 300m.

I do have ONE frustration though, and that's with stalking detection. People don't understand the differnce between aggro and just stalking, which is a prelude to aggro. After our party was utterly owned last weekend because people were getting too close to nests, a new rule for hunting was laid down: "If a Ranger tells you to move away from a critter, MOVE and ask questions later." heh heh

Now I am new to this forum and not a ranger. I came here with a specific question, that was nicely answered by the way and decided to read around a little. But since the time I found out about track,I knew it did not spawn creatures. I didn't know how it worked but I knew somehow that it didn't make creatures appear. Maybe that was because I was a scout and wanted to be a ranger, maybe not I don't know.

Why am I not a ranger now. Well it was my intention to go to ranger first. I worked quickly up the first 3 trees and it seemed to take forever to get the camping tree done. Well I finally gave in and ground it out with a timer. Set up the tent. Sit for 15. Set up another tent. Then I was stopped by ap. I've had all I needed to master scout for 2 months. Just now got within 180 pts of master scout. I don't have the patients to stand in a crowd and shout. With hologrinders it just got worse so I drifted away. I'll probably return to my dream someday but I've got to ask. Only ranger, bounty hunter, doctor, combat medic, and commandohave an entire tree for prereqs. Some of these are pretty powerful. Doctors and there buffs, commando's and there heavy weapons, combat medics and there disease. Do the ranger skills justify the cost of getting there?
