Thread: You aren't able to determine....
Is this a bug? I do the /areatrack and get "You aren't able to determine anything from the tracks in the area." Nothing on the radar (128m) I run out about 200m and there is a Rouge Bantha.
This has happened to me about 3 times today. No not always Bantha's but Lairs and other monsters not showing up on my areatrack. I have it at 2nd lvl.
"Nothing on the radar (128m) I run out about 200m and there is a Rouge Bantha."
There are multiple possibilities for what you are seeing.
- /areatrack only tracks creatures that exist in the game space at the time you perform the command
- If the Bantha was spawned once you moved closer to its spawn point, it would not have registered in your previous scan.
I have also heard of issues with /areatrack and the vertical axis... If you were in hilly terrain, the command may not have registered the creature properly.
Of course, /areatrack could be just plain broken as well... Anything is possible ![]()
I think it's the "hasn't spawned when you looked" theory myself. I used /areatrack on Tatooine... nothing on radar and the list was clean. I literally moved 10 feet, and my radar was red red red.
Some things just like to spawn on me. Like rasps... I hate rasps... they follow me too...
JB
ever alert for rasps... and other weird lil animals that hate him
In the mountains I have particularly noticed that /areatrack can be limited in its ability to find something.I know the distances become very short since the entire up and down distance of the slope is considered, not just the horizontal distance.
I've also had the situation where creatures spawn because I've moved when they weren't there before when I was tracking. I guess that's just a built in limitation of the spawning system.
2 days ago i was in the mountains of naboo and did /areatrack on players to see how many maulers were in front of me and i got the you can not determine anything from these tracks (whatever that statment is) and i have 2 maulers in front of me about 110 ms and 3 rebels behind me about 130 ms. I was like ok, and then kept going.
"did /areatrack on players to see how many maulers were in front of me" (emphasis mine)
I presume you meant people instead of players, as they are separate options in /areatrack. ![]()
Rasps are my friends. You leave them alone.
Seriously. Whenever I'm on Talus hunting, if they're in the area, they immediately rush to "my aid" and start attacking whatever I'm shooting at.
Actually, it's annoying most of the time, as it's really kill-stealing and griefing. They should be banned.
Wipe them out. ALL of them.
Just want to bump this up and say that /areatrack really does not seem to work in mountainous terrain.
Even though I see an animal with my eyes and it shows up on my radar (128m), mostly likely if I'm in the mountains it won't show up on area track.
This is terribly frustrating when hunting things like carrion spats and ought to be fixed. I used to think it was because of the terrain but since I can measure the distance to an animal that I can see, that theory isn't quite holding water.
