Im sure there are other threads with this idea running through them, but as I am too lazy to seek those threads out I am going to post a new one.
I was on another SWG fan site where someone was complaining about the ranger proffesion, and I wrote a response on what I thought could be done to make the ranger a more useful character. (In my opinion, mind you) My origional plan was the run a master squad leader / master ranger character, which i felt would be the most useful character for groups in the field. Not the strongest, or the the most versitle, but filling a much needed niche on the strategy end of the game. (Which currenlty this isnt as much of as I would like) I figure since this is a much more perused board I will repost my thought and see what other people think about them

-Trap that can, at ranger levels, effect NPC's and PC's or at least the ability at trapping 4 to retroactivly make all previous traps effective on non-creatures. Currently rangers trapping is only useful for animal hunting groups, and I feel animal hunting should be more a background facet of the game for XP, and not the primary objective. (Which i feel is the GCW aspect)
-Traps that can be set and left to be triggered when crossed by a hostile. Once again, NPC traps, but this would also be useful on animals who charge you once you start shooting. Strategically this would singly handedly make rangers become a useful tool in base defense.
-WHen grouped with a SL, the rangers conceal command will make the entire party disapear from the radar to hostiles until targeted by said hostiles. THis would allow groups to lie in wait for incoming troops to suprise attack.
-Camps at master ranger levels gain some sort of base defense systems such as simple turrents or traps to allow a camp to function as a small stronghold in the field and not jsut a resting place.
-Area track at fourth level not only tracks players, but also tracks by faction. Rangers can then become the most useful scouts in the game for base defense or hunting down enemy troops on the move.
-Area track by a specific animal. More often than not if I am using area track it is to find one type of resource (specific animal or general resource type i.e. avian bone).

Uhh. THat is all. THis is more a less and idea of how I visualized using my master ranger in the game.
