Sorry guys, but tonight I have understood what it means to be a Ranger in the eyes of a crafter. All we are is a better Noob scout who will ask for more credits because they know the worth of a resource. I must concentrate on the Galactic Civil War, and the only way to do this is to drop Ranger and Scout for a more viable template. That does not mean that I will abandon the community, because if Ranger gets what it deserves after so much has been taken away, I will most likely return.
I will just need to learn to /addignore people who won't stop sending me tells to track for them.
All I have been doing for the last several months is harvesting. Not fighting, just harvesting. Fighting was the means to the end. There should not be a profession that must form a majority of it's uniqueness on roleplaying. We have eye candy, and that's pretty much it. There are three ways to make money in this game: Looting, Resource Harvesting, and Crafting. Fighters are on the looting end, and half of the resource harvesting, while crafters are the inorganic resource harvesting half as well as crafted items. You cannot justify that a profession does not need love, because it can make money. That point is pointless.
I will never forget what I have learned here, and I will make it a point to continue learning about this game and the professions in it. Most likely, I will come back to Ranger. However, I will only be able to return with my head held high when the profession is given the love that it is due. I will still contribute to the Ranger guide. I will still contribute to community discussions. If I am able to research in game features that this forum finds useful, I will do so.
The true reasons that I am quitting? I want to be able to participate in the GCW as a factor of it's outcome. I am tired of being sought out to track Snorbals, the Moisture Farmer, Falumpasets, etc. I am tired of doing nothing but harvesting for my bread and butter almost every hour I play. My time is precious, and the so-called Bounties on organics are pitiful, not enough to place skill points into, when everything goes at 10 cpu no matter how uber it is. I am also tired of feeling like I am the sole source of organics for our guild's crafters.
This is not goodbye, just my point of view, and the reason that I will be dropping Ranger and Scout tonight.

Enjoy whatever profession you end up in. Most of them are really quite a bit of fun. If you're not having fun as a Ranger then you shouldn't keep the skills. It is only a game, after all.

Sorry to see you go to another path, but such is life. I've learned to say "No" to tracks and harvesting contracts, but it seems like you had a lot more on your plate always advertising and taking what you can contract-wise. Just looks like you burned out on the rangering from my side, but it's for the best if you weren't enjoying it.
May your GCW balancing go well.

Don't worry he'll be back as soon as he loses Camps, AreaTrack and Terrain Negotiation. The latter being the really tough one to lose.

I hope he finds a template that makes him happy. I know sometimes I get disillusioned by the lack of good reasons to be a Ranger. Then I get paid for the hides/meat/bones I bring back and all is good in the galaxy.
We need better camps though.
