Thread: Trapping Skill? Trap Quality? Not Important??
As far as I can tell, the only noticeable benefit to having +90 trapping as aTrap Masteris that I am qualified to use all the traps (ie, someone with only +10 traps can't use Adhesive Mesh). If there is a secondary benefit, I certainly don't notice it. The only thing that I could think of that it may effect is if the creature resists the trap (trap fails to effect creature notification).
In addition... I haven't seen any benefit to having a high quality trap. Has anyone noticed any possible change in trap behavior based on trap quality? My phecnacine traps seem to always root for the same amount of time no matter what the quality... so if there's a difference, I'm not noticing it.
Should Trap Skill and Trap Quality be more variable? Shouldn't they have a profound impact on the effectiveness of a trap on a particular mob? I can only assume that there is some sort of game trapping equation that looks something like:
Trap Effectiveness = Creature Level - Trap Skill + Trap Quality/Trap Complexity
There just needs to be more of a variance in my opinion. Right now... traps just work regardless of skill and they seem to have the same effectiveness no matter how well (or poor) you make them.

my sharp bone spur traps are the best thing in my arsenal. they hit every time.
the sonic pulse, flash bombs and adhesive mesh traps hit maybe 1 in 5. thats alot of wasted materials to hit 1 in 5.
