Hi

will the High Quality Camp really protect you from Red Animals and NPC's? Is there a particular level the creature has to be below? DO they just sit outside the camp and wait for you to disband the camp??

Any insight would be great.

Thanks

I have seen a variety of aggro creatures waltz in and out of my camp (luckily I have /maskscent to rely on) ... it's broken, without a doubt.

I had my HQ camp up yesterday and about 10 minutes into my camp time a ragtag oaf came by and tried toharvest my hide while I was still alive. Well, I put my book down and killed him but it made me wonder about this since I've never had this problem with the scout IV camp. So I went around and killed the rest of the oafs and cretins and set up an Improved camp kit from Scout level. Well, sad to say but more ragtags spawned in and around my camp and they all just walked away without aggro.

I wouldn't suggest using your HQ camp kits for actual protection. Broken is an understatement.

Camps are broke, just like ranger traps and everything else a ranger has afraid to say.

Just confirming I've been attacked by multiple red critters in my aggressive repelling High Tech Field Camp....or whatever the name is for the first Ranger camp. I was very disappointed by this and just glad I had not stepped away for a drink when the attack occurred.

Also totally unrelated I wish my probot actually guarded me. It just stands there until told to attack.

I had a red con cat of some kind on Corellia stroll into my HQ camp but he never agro'd (the same flavor that whooped my butt and tested my burstrun not long before while running around). My guess is the camp is designed to affect, like all the rest of our skills, animals and will not stop a humanoid from agroing on you. It also doesn't stop them from coming into the camp but it does stop the agro. At least in my experiences.

I have the High Field Base, and i can atest that it DOES protect you against high red agro. I've seen them dance outside my shield and not touch me, even though i had no maskscent. I think that the first ranger base could be bugged, i realize it doesn't seem to work . . but mabye it only works on really low red agro.

Also, Just FYI . . High Field Base gives no Camping Exp. I feel thats rather unfair, mabye for instance a Master Ranger could give one of these to a fellow Ranger with Frontiering III . . and he could put it up etc.

Experience on camps is as follows:

800, 1000, 1100, 1200, None.

I think a more reasonable selection would be thus:

800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000

Therby giving the Master Ranger a market for selling his camps, make a little extra money and have novice rangers come to him.

Actually as far as rangers handing down traps/camps to novice rangers, it's the same as scouts. You can't use the camp/trap unless you're of level to make it yourself. That's why I see no point nor profit in someone setting up a trap/camp shop or anything of the sort.

(Now if only they had the sense to make this apply to creature handlers and you wouldn't see rancors running all over the place behind people who have spent all of 3 days playing the game)

I got kind of lucky. I started out as a master artisan before wanting to switch over to Ranger/Pistoleer. Since I haven't had to eliminate my skills for survey or engineering yet, I use my factory to mass produce 100 tents of the one I am working on.

Out in the field. I double click a crate and one pops out. Another double-click and it is set up. Saves me the time of having to make one over and over.

Taking that one step further, I created a bunch of them (packaged in boxes of 25 tents each) and sell them.

25 single person tents is hard to pass up for a novice scout who doesn't get too much hide and bones. Each level I progress, I make more bulk packages until I have to get rid of the skills.

I do the same for traps. Can't tell you how nice it is to have 100+ traps of various kinds pre-made when you need them.
