Thread: How about exp from Maskscent is applied to Wilderness Exp
Everyone, and I mean everyone knows how painfully slow Wilderness exp can be. As a Scout or a Ranger its the last part of the tree to be filled.
We can control the amount of scout exp we get by actively hunting and harvesting corpses but sitting in Camps for 20-30 minutes trying to get exp is not fun. I propose that Maskscent exp be applied to the Wilderness Survival Exp pool instead. One could make a very logical argument that masking one's scent from vicious animals in the wild could be Wildnerness exp. I know when I hunt on Lok I can get anywhere from 50-200 exp sometimes skirting animals. Its not a huge amount of exp but I think it might be enough to make Wildnerness exp less painful at Ranger level.
I think this change would in a small way help even out the progression in the different parts of theRanger skill tree. Right now Trapping is the easiest to get closely followed by Scouting and a dead last is Wilderness experience.
Any thoughts?
Hmm, foraging and fishing....Hehe it would give you something to do while in your camp.
Just imagine you set you camp up near a lake and start to fish and forage while you are sitting in the camp ![]()
Makes sense you should get experience for it, I like the idea

All a matter of style of play ... I had wilderness filled way before the others. In matter of fact I had Wilderness IV and trapping IV with exploration II and hunting II. I am more explorer then hunter. Can't wait to get to Ranger those darn scout xps are going to kill me though
Come to think of it as soon as I get the scouting xps to become a Ranger (still need exp IV,hunting IV and the 10K for novice Ranger) I will already qualify for ranger wilderness I and ranger trapping I.

I do like the idea of foraging giving survival xp, but then people would complain about auto forage macroing while in camps hehe
i agree that /forage should add to survival xp, since it's in that tree that you gain the skill. but by that logic, /maskscent is under the exploration tree, and thereby should give scouting xp, as it does. for me, i just think it would be nice to have some reward to /forage (other than 'some foraged items were discarded because your inventory is full' when i have 38/60 inv). even if it is a pittance of xp. i mean, runnign around talus i get as low as 2xp and as high as 41xp from /maskscent (ooh, what a bank breaker)
although yesterday i did find a stone knife in the ground. kind of useless, but was the first non-food item i've ever found.
furthermore, and even further off topic, i am tired of non agressive monsters breaking /maskscent. the way i see it, there is no reward, so there should be no risk. if non-aggs are not going to give a reward, or even a notification of success, then leave them out of the calculation altogether. sure, let them see me. let them get the '!' over their head and charge over to see what's up. but if i'm not going to be rewarded for success, then i shouldn't be penalized for failure. and for heaven's sake, why can a creature detect me after i've run past it undetected and am 60m away? is this just lag or what?
