We recently had a thread discussing this. If you are curious:

The ranger camping line is under changes and revisions from the devs, so I'm not quite sure what all we have coming.

In general terms, I support classes being inter-dependent to some degree. Squad leaders adding fortications and additional mods to our camps would be a positive, IMO. Conceptually, a SL having trenches and fortifications seems great. You do have to master wilderness survival, it seems natural you learnt how to manipulate your environment to provide your group with advantages.

Squad leaders need a lot of work, there is no way to deny the class needs changes and improvements. It has a lot of potential.

I guess a few people might get some feathers ruffled, but I hope that is rare.

You will find that people define Ranger and the roles that go along with it very differently. Some are much more geared towards pure PvE, some are soloist... others feel more like elite combat support or covert ops.

I have read it, but it doesn't give the Squad Leader a Stand Alone Role... Stand Alone Fortifications that give combat and deffensive bonuses, Combat bonuses, not healing bonuses like rangers...

Unfortunately, the Squad Leader profession does not lend its self well to "stand alone" anything.

As I understand it, the Squad Leader is only effectiveby usinghis abilities to augment the group.

I would like to see Squad Leaders have the abilities to add defensive and offensive bonuses to Scout/Ranger camps and bases, even their own camps and bases should they be able to use them.

Okay, to my understanding, Ranger is the only High End Camping class, if it involves healing and waring off predators, its a Ranger's role...

But, I am not a Ranger, what do Rangers see that role as? Once this is defined, we can define the Squad Leaders role...

My Hope for a Squad Leaders role would be High End bonuses via Fortifications for COMBAT, Deffense and Offense Related ONLY, no healing mods, nothing that repels creatures other then our own firepower and that of our squads....

What I see for Squad Leaders role basically is Stand Alone Fortifications that give Deffense and Offense bonuses... That would be fair to us, because We too have Wilderness Survival.... We just chose a different direction... A Combat Related Direction.

Please define the role so we don't step on any toes, Consider this, think about it, dont jump on us for it...

This reply is written upon the assumption that you are speaking strictly about the Wilderness portion of the Scout line.

Opinion: The best thing that Squad Leaderscan do to compliment the Ranger profession while giving Squad Leaders some defined role when it comes to "camps" would be some way to augment it's defensive capability. There is a topic in this Ranger Forum entitled Modular Camps. It makes for some interesting reading. I reccommend that you read it -- it may give you some insight into what can work.
