I must admit to being a Ranger noob. I've only been a master for two weeks and having read all of the issues with camo in this forum, I never used it until I had mastered my beloved profession. I know that there is some confusion as to whether it works against a npc but I think it is for sure supposed to work against creatures.
I took a little trip to the squill cave to begin the newly fixed Hero of Tatooine quest. Before I walked in I put on my nice little shoulder pad which gives a little boost to the old camo/mask scent skill and concealed myself. Took a few steps inside and the little guys up front don't seem to pay much attention to me. "Ok" I think to myself, "this looks like it will work out" and I boldly stepped deeper into the cave.
That's when the gates of perdition opened and certain little DEVlish imps started laughing insanely at one short, fat, scared little wookiee ranger.
To make a long story short, the cloners had to extract a sample of my dna from a beat up bloody trashbag of fur and bone and my belongings were left in a pile of squill poo.
Not once throughout this harrowing experience did my concealment break! Some would ignore me, some wouldn't. The deeper I went, the fewer that ignored me.
The moral: Always tip your cloner.

At some static locations, the creatures are triggered to attack regardless of maskscent or conceal. It sounds like this is one of them.

Shame isn't it? It's one of the potentially tactically useful skills that we possess. It might even allow us to bedesireable in a group. Possibly hiding crafters for that nasty deathwatch bunker I hear so much about.Oh well. At least Ican still run up hills fast.

I went to squill cave. I have +17 maskscent +17 camo Spec-Ops duster & matching +17 pants.
I got detected twice the whole time.
i'm guessing squills are just very good at detecting you when you invade their house.
