Thread: Any advice for a new ranger?

Hi all! I'm not new to the game by any streach but I have never tried out ranger. I hope to re-master scout (doh) and then i can join your ranks. I'm not doing this for a hologrind profession but for a real interest in seeing all the different planets and harvesting every animal there is 
. Anyway mastering scout is easy as I am a Master Pikeman right now and am keeping it but when I get to novice ranger, are there any suggestions which tree to head up first or is it more of a personal preference thing? I want to kind of map this out a little so im not burning up xp one one thing when something else might do me better sooner.

I'd say that Tracking is the best tree to go up first. Trapping and Wayfaring are nice but they are not nearly as useful as Tracking. And Frontiering is slow.

Some quick notes for you:
Trapping Tree: Throw traps at anything that moves. Best done while ina group. Glow-wire (I think) traps can be thrown at the same critter unlimited times.
Tracking and Wayfaring Trees: Both use Scout XP,butI would recommend the Tracking tree first since this is the meat of the Ranger prof. This is best acomplised by harvesting, and the higher th CL of a critter, the more xp you get.
Survival: Craft camps in practice mode...repeat as necessary.

Thanks for the help! Hopefully I will be able to train novice ranger in a few days. The ole Enraged Rancors give good scout xp

Harvest everthing! Put up camps and make your traps, and other camps, while in them. Throw traps at everthing. Best of all HAVE FUN!

BOO!!! lol, I'm still doing it the old-fashioned way. For some reason I can't bring myself to grind camps. Then again, that's probably why I'm still 4/2/4/4 and won't be mastering any time soon

Thats one of the primary reasons for doing ranger. I want to go to every planet and check the whole place out. My goal is to have every exploration badge soon. I just gotta get back into the habbit of throwing the damn traps again LOL.

Never fear, SolzDevius. I don't grind camps either and I am a third of the way through the last box. If I can do it, you can as well!

my advise: watch out for Bothan poodoo. and bring a punchbowl (or a punchline) wherever you tread online, or onforums. oh, and don't worry about spelling, punctuation or grammar. We Rangers don't have the skillpoints for those particular things, so most of us drop them and go up the humor line instead. I'm 3/4 of the way through box 4 on "Bothan Humor" and I just got box 3 in "General Humor/Spoofs", though I need some App. XP pretty soon....wanna learn some Bothan jokes??
