There have been a lot of questions about why to become a Ranger, or why to stay one. So I thought I would take it upon myself toset upa journal ofexperiences. I invite anyone to post in character stories to illustrate the experience of the ranger. I would ask the following however:
- Please do not post out of character responces in this thread
- Please do not add editorial comments about other posts in this thread here.
- Please remember to keep in mind all of the SOE requirements for thread posting
I hope that this will help illustrate what it is about Ranger that appeals to us. Who knows ... it may even be a good way to meet friends and colegues.
If this is inappropriate please have the administrator remove this post. I will just put posts like this on a private web site and not clog the forums with my drivle. ![]()

Journal Entry: day 129
Well, the season has changed again, and the new harvests look pretty good. Things are looking up for a change. I spoke to a youthful Ranger today. It’s always nice to see another wookiee return to his roots. I think he was more a beast wrangler than a Ranger, but I never fault anyone for the other paths they take. It was an interesting visit. Definitely an adventure seeker, asking about caves and jobs he could do for people, but very practical. When I told him that the Marauders would give him work and pay him in armor (they love their armor way too much), he just shrugged and lost interest. Definitely on a creature hunt.
He mentioned that there were good hunting fields on Yavin 4. I hadn’t realized that I had never been to Yavin 4 for any length of time. Am I really that far removed from the rest of the galaxy? Maybe I am. Funny how some Rangers wander the galaxy and others find a home and settle in.
I’ve started hunting Mantigrues to help with costs of running the farm. Why on earth did I become a farmer? Ah well. Might as well see it through to the end. The new techniques I learned using my rifle has made it a lot easier. Never liked hunting in groups. It always felt like work. Now I finally know how to keep those big guys off my back. At least I will be able to get by without worrying about the severe lack of medical attention. It’s nice to have a peaceful planet where things are quiet and the only visitors you get are the serious explorers, but I definitely pay the price. Could definitely use some entertainment too. Ah well.
Been having to catch the barges to Theed more lately. Things sell faster there … and I need the money. I keep forgetting how much I really dislike that city. Too many people, too crouded. But I guess that is why things sell well there. I look forward to the day that I can just get someone to come and pick up my goods and take them to market for me. I don’t want to ask the rest of the gang at ESR, they already have done so much to ensure that the Search and Rescue side is well funded and maintained. Let alone the reputation Twi, Ardo and Tibli seem to be garnering. They have done such a good job. Seems that things are going well for the team. I don’t want to burden them with taking care of a crazy old wookiee that won’t come in from the woods. Too bad the Ewoks don’t buy anything. Just the Dulok heads.

I am not even going to guess what journal entry day it is. I am not really good at days. Besides the days are on Chra time.
What I do know is that it was 3 months since I had heard from that crazy wookie in the woods. Chra is very good at staying hidden for long stretches without contact. So I figured it was time for me to check up on his well being.I finally tracked him down, alright whenI ran/stumbledacross him near the korga village because I am but a country doctor after all. It was after I attempted to help some poor unfortunate who thought that Endor was a good place to play with a CDEF pistol (will they never learn),Chra was tore up something fierce. Took me the rest of the day to stitch him up.Idroped off some more medical supplies sohe can take care of the little cuts and bruisesfrom the forest. I was too late for the pistoleer.I took the pisotoleers posessions and gave them to the imperial troopers at the starport. I hope they track down his family. I hate loosing patients. It is the country doctor in me. It just boils me. As long as this planet keeps calling the youth to its dangerous beauty I guess my fellow ESR members and myself will be needed.
Anyone who reads this after me, know that this planet would be even more dangerous if it wasn't for you fine Rangers. Thank you all. You are there to guide me when I get a little off the beaten path, protect me so that I may bring medical attention to the wounded and dying, and most of all bring your wonderfull resources and harvests tomarket so that I may manufacture more medical supplies. I am both in your debt and at your service should the need arise for my services.

Hey Guildies, hope this message gets to you all intact. Just finished my resource recon for you... Dantooine is the place to go right now for you folks looking for resources or credits. Wooly hide, carnivore meat, herbivore meat, wild meat... take your pick, it's all looking good. I even set up some flora farms for berry fruit for Bambi.. seems like she needs it for pet stims so of course I was more than happy to help her out.
Chelios, Cealog and October:I was able to stop over on Talus and get you some of that good water vapor that should assist you all in your doctor needs. Hopefully that Tatooine fiberplast I set you up with will keep you covered on that for a while, eh? Best of luck with the medical experimentation and stay safe, you crazy doctors!
Bounty Hunter armor is being dropped by those devilish Black Suns on Yavin 4, although I recommend that maybe you take some of our "tankboys:" Whenawow, Trentak, Warrano, Jean... you know, those tough bounty hunters... ha ha ha. Might be a little more of a tactical advantage bringing the thunder, eh? Not a good day to be a bad guy with those dudes around, eh? ha ha ha
Missing home and hope all is well in Barataria, Naboo. I'm sure my house is in various stages of disrepair but hey, that's whatthis lifestyle's all about, eh? Hopefully the folks I have using it as a storage shed will at least clean up after themselves and maybe do some tidying up for me... (sigh)
Things are relatively quiet on the southeast fringes... talked with my weapons supplier on Lok, MrBigglesWorth and he says that he's expecting some trouble soon. So I'll try and keep my ears alerted to that and give you all a heads up... and come to think of it, since the Dathomirian carnivore meat shifted that planet is quiet right now... maybe too quiet. But I'll keep you all posted.
Looking forward to getting out of the wild at least for a day, maybe spend some R&R time with my beloved Guildies! Heck, I might even let Crinos beat the stuffing outta me in duels again... ha ha ha.
Everyone stay safe and lemme know if you need anything. As always, you might not see me much but you KNOW I'm here to help you and the Guild out.
