This is a bit long but would be cool. The jedi are not the only "UBER" people to have ever lived in the SW universe. The others should get some love too. Now before you shoot this idea down as you think I am just some guy that wants to be as good as a jedi without the grinding you should know a few things. First I am 1 box away from jedi and have done my fare share of grinding. 2nd this will most likely never happen and is mostly for my own hopes and dreams. 3rd as rare as Mando Armor is these guys would be even rarer. So now without anymore crap here is my idea.

Elite Hybrid Prof. Mandalorian (fighter, commmando, warrior ect ect.)

How do you become one?
First master BH, commando, SL, or ranger. Then get a full suit of matching mando armor with jetpack (told you these guys would be rare lol). Then equip the armor and go talk to Fett. He sends you on a entry quest then once you complete it he says he is starting the mandalorians backup and you can join. Upon joining you are stripped of you "non-mando" skills (ie everything that is not you master elite prof bh commando, sl, ranger and its pre reqs).

What happens next?
Well your armor is now not able to be removed and when it gets low on condition you must fix it (100% chance) with kits that Fett gives you (after doing another mission for him). You also gain access to elite skills and weapons. What tree you have access is decided by what hybrid or elite prof you did to get there. IE ranger is different that sl and that is different than BH ect. You are removed from your faction and enter a new faction (Mandalorian) and when declared (or whatever its called now) you are attackable by both rebels and imperial. Also you are not able to group with anyone other than other mandalorians (a lonely life).

What weapons you gain access to.
Rangers and SL mando gain access to a Mandalorian rifle and gain rifle skills in their Mando skill boxes.
BH gain access to a Mandalorian carb and de-10 (since this is their weapon anyway).
Commando gain access to a Mandalorion Flame thrower.
For the new weapons you will have to aquire a schem from Fett by doing a mission.
Fett also becomes your new faction "recruiter" and you can turn in faction points for stuff from him.

How powerful will they be?
Well in a word, VERY. They will rival jedi knights. Now before anyone complains about this, consider how hard it will be to become a mandalorian (if its even possible).

How good will mando armor be cause its not good right now?
Well after the CU it is supposed to be way better. But it will be very very good. It will not have special protection against LS but will have a slight resist. The resist will be like 5%, just enough so it is not vuln to it (make the fight even).

Will they get new skills?
Yes. They will all get new skills. They will all do much more damage in pvp and pve.

Think this covers most of it. What do you guys think? Other elite elite classes I would like to see. Akk Guards (read shatterpoint). No flames please as I am not trying to make my prof elite, but I just think this would be really cool to see other "uber" classes in this game, even if they dont fit the time line, I thnk the timeline is kinda jaked up now anyway.

Someone on the naritus forum also suggested adding mandalorian as a new elite prof to rival jedi. I thought it was a cool idea, but as you say, it ain't gonna happen.

man we have posted on this a bunch now. I love the idea of super elite profs. I had a post on the core systems forum about a month ago on this. The only problem i have your idea is everyone having to get the mando armor. With rangers i think our elite elit prof should antarian rangers and mandolorian should be the bounty hunters. The way i suggested setting it up was similar to the jedi path now ( or if it get changes make ours change with it). You become fs go through the grind to unlock and when you finally do you now have a choice to become jedi , antarian ranger, mandolorian BH it's up to and your particular style of game play. The difference in this new system is intead of just unlocking and wow i'm a jedi you have to do a very involved quest to unlock wichever you choose. This would make you have to do a quest just to become jedi initiate, Antarian "scout" ( hehe), or mandolorian soldier.

I disagree with the idea for continuity reasons. Jaster's Mandalorians are dead. When they were alive, they were NOT Jedi hunters. The Jedi, however, did kill off all the Mandalorians, except for Jango. Jango had Boba cloned so that he could continue Jaster Mereel's legacy.

If Boba saw anyone else in Mandalorian armor, he'd probably give them the time it takes to raise his blaster, for htem to explain, before he shoots their head off for being an imposter.

Continuity has been broken enough in this game, we dont need to break it further.

I would like to meet the first Ranger who got a set of Mando without the help of a minimum of 10 people. More like 39, 2 full fighting groups.

Fact is, does any Ranger have a full set of Mando? I mean of their very own, not shared, and they got all the BH pieces by their lonesomes.

I have, uh, two pairs of BH boots. Oh, and a left bracer. Impressed? Nah, I didn't think so.

I haven't looted anything from black suns since the patch. Not even crap. Thirty or forty black suns down and not a single looted item. Did their drops get screwed up, or have I just been unlucky?

I agree 100%. Few people know the backstory; it's refreshing to see it.

I also applaude your superior trivia knowledge and committment to canon.

Let's fix the existing professions, to the extent that they may be broken, before considering any new elite professions, no matter how cool. Jedi should have been done this way, if at all.

Well not only do no rangers have a set of mando but not one person has a set of mando. and no one can get a full suit or a piece on their own. As far as getting the bh pieces, a ranger would have a mucheasier time than anyone without tracking. This is just a pipe dream anyway. Antarian rangers would be cool, but they are not FS so not sure what the path to that should be.

There is probably enough EU support for making unlocking FS a pre-req for Antarian Rangers... I submit the following quoted directly from the roleplaying guide at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/sw20030710hero

On the planet Antar 4, home of the Gotal species, a Coruscant-born Human Jedi Knight named Marus Timpel was performing routine duties that brought him into contact with a being who was turned down for Jedi training. Kaskutal, a Gotal with limited Force sensitivity, had been turned away as a child by Timpel himself and had gone on to become a very successful and wealthy businessman specializing in trade negotiations and intercessions. The two become fast friends, and during their discussions, Timpel expressed his frustrations with the limitations his Jedi lifestyle put on his travels and available resources. Kaskutal, still harboring admiration for the Jedi despite being turned away, offered to help and raised funds and resources from donors and investors to create an organization to help alleviate those problems. This organization came to be known as the Antarian Rangers, and it soon spread beyond Antar 4 into the rest of the galaxy

Too bad this isn't even possible...
"Some Jedi actually have semipermanent Antarian Ranger companions who travel the stars with them and assist them in a fashion similar to the Padawan-Master relationship."

I know some are going to LOVE this... *dons flame suit and 1-star shield*
"With the rise of the Empire, the Rangers were hunted as fervently as the Jedi by Lord Vader and the Inquisitors. Any discovered to be associated with the Antarian Rangers faced the same punishment as those connected with the Rebel Alliance or who harbored fugitive Jedi. Sympathizing with the Antarian Rangers can be a dangerous choice at times, and the organization requires dedication and loyalty not often found in the galaxy."

After a couple of lucky nights, I'm now two pieces away from a full suit of BH. And except for one hunt with Lira that yielded the belt and gloves, I've been getting it all on my lonesome.

As for turning it into mando... I'm not holding my breath.
