Thread: Now, *I* am the master.

The circle is now complete. When I met you I was but the learner. Now, *I* am the master. After traveling the galaxy visiting places few players have ever been, spending nights camped out under the stars, and snaring my food using improvised traps, I have at last obtained the title of Master Ranger.

Last night I was minding my own business, milking Gaulamas for the lowest quality milk I have ever seen in the game (three stats under 60) I was jumped by a couple sith. Apparently these sith were using some sort of cloaking technique as my pets claimed to not know what I was asking them to attack (nasty surprise for someone who relies on CH for defense.) I followed some information on a disc I recovered from these sith that led me to an encampment of more sith (right in the middle of one of the largest player cities on Naboo how bold of them) luckily we caught them by surprise and my pets were able to assist me against these Sith. Yet another datapad led me to Dathomir.

Once on Dathomir I saw it was only a 6K distance to the waypoint so I decided to give the pets a rest and set out on foot. A little while later I arrived at a quaint village and talked to the village elder, he told me they had been having trouble with Sith of their own and asked me to assist their city. I decided I could help these poor folk out and soon was given a mission on Endor. So I walked back to the Starport.

About three quarters of the way back several others were zipping past me on their swoops with about 20 creatures hot on their tails. Soon another person, a real aborration against nature in composit armor of the finest qualityand pumped up bythe mysterious chemicals doctors apply to these types, stops on his bike and asks "Oh man what happened to your swoop? Nightsisters?" Itilt my head to the side and ask confused "What swoop?" He replies back "Your swoop... you know your bike. Did a nightsister get it or something? And what happened to your armor?" I look at him and flatly say "Oh my bike is in storage safe and sound. As for armor I don'tuse armor." Apparently the freak thought I was some sort of spice junky or lunatic and shouts over his shoulder as a nearby gaping spider forces him to accelerate away "Whatever!"

I then had an amazing feeling come over me. Everythingwas suddenly clear to me, I could see every handhold on every cliff, I realized I knew everything about an animal or creature just by looking at it, I know how to make traps that even the mighty rancor can not resist, and when I decide to set up a camp Ido not merely set up a littleshelter to keep my head dry but insteadbuild a small city complete with streetlights, self contained power generation, and data terminals complete with satellite link up to Imperial command, usingnothing more thana small amount of hide, a few bones, and a couple metal screws, this is when I knew it was time to go before my trainer and prove to him that I am worthy of the title Master Ranger.

On my way to Endor I stop by my original trainer that I started with so long ago back in Kaadra. He no longer looks like a godlike figure to me but rather a brother that had seen more in hisyear than manyfamilies see in a lifetime. He see me and I sense recognition butI can tell he has not firmly identified me yet.I consider the changes I have gone through since last we met and realize that I mustbarely resemble the eager young scout that had begged this man to share his knowledge with me oh so long ago. I open my mouth to speak and before I can say anything my trainer says "Well ifyou are not a sight. I can tell you have been serious in using what I taught you Ile.You have the look of a man that has seen and done it all. Pull up a chair and tell me how things have gone. Then you can show me what you know."

Over the next several hours I tell him about my travels and all that I have seen. I demonstrate my abilities and talk about therioes and strategies I have come up with on my own. Eventually he pats me on the back and say "Son not only have you succeeded beyond my wildest dreams but you have even managed to teach me a thing or two here. Truly you are a master, let no one tell you otherwise. We talk a bit more but before long a bight eyed young man comes running up to my former instructor and says "I have learned all there is to being a scout. I have thought long and hard about this, I want to become a Ranger, please help me..."

I exchange a wink with my long time friend and wander back to the starport. After all those folks in that village sounded like they really need help and now I am surethat I am capable of assisting them.

2. If the old man dares to show his face to that character he will find himself harvested for resources.

Ya, but like the village resources, they probably won't be stackable

Congratulations on mastering. And this is the most entertaining mastering post I have ever read, a good read. Good luck with helping the village.

I saw the length of the inital post and was about to hit the back button on my mouse and leave without reading. I am glad I stayed around now and started to read. This is what the feeling of ranger is for me and why I am happy to stay as I am well well after any future updates that may come our way.

Many thanks for a good read /tiphat

Congrats! A word of warning, though: once you start down the Ranger path, forever will it guide your destiny.
