Justtwo simplesuggestions:

Version 1: Your avatar putting his index and pointing finger up to the side of his head (as if concentrating) and have his/her head lookaround the area(scoping).

Version 2: Have your avatar raise his left hand into the hair to his left side about shoulder length, fingers extended (as if to be quiet for the rest of the members of your party) then tilting his head around looking for tracks.

Version 3: Have your avatar bend over at the waist and move both his hands through the ground while walking a little looking for tracks then coming back up.

What do you guys think?

#3: Tracks exist on the ground, not on your head. Id just be happy with the foraging animation.

/areatrack;/combarea;/pause 7;/smell;/pause 4;/forage

Thats what my Area Track macro looks like and I think it works pretty well. At least it lets my group know that I am tracking and to wait for a moment.

"Son, that bad man is (SOE), and he's **edit**ing your (Star Wars)."

This is Star Wars? Even thgouh a Ranger lives off the land, why does he always have to resort to the low tech spectrum? [If at least for the higher track spectrum] Perhaps Rangers can use a datapad/scanner to search the area. Maybe even send out a radar ping not too disimilar from surveying.

Hey thanks Ki... I love that macro.. works perfect. Would have been better if they had just given us some kind of animation or at least a message: So and so begins searching for tracks. That way our group would at least wait, and not run off without us while we stand there tracking.

Anyhow good work with the macro, it's great.

I just updated my macro:

/areatrack;/areatrack;/areatrack;/combarea;/pause 7;/smell;/pause 4;/forage

Now I can get three tracks going at the same time, one for Animals, one for People and one for Players.

Does anyone know if there is a /tracktype command so we can bypass the type select stage? I've tried /areatrackanimal, but that doesn't work.

Maybe someone with more know-how could discover the macro format for that? Possibly /areatrackAnimal (capital A)? Guess I should try that...

I could care less if we had an animation or not. . .what would really help is if we were able to keep track of the friggin target we click on instead of running blind in one general direction, then stand still for another minute waiting for track to come up, just to see that you didn't go to where you wanted to go and have to run off in a different area. You'd think that at least a Master tracker would be able to pin point, at least to the spot where they were last when you had track up, but no, it tells you. . . so and so 400m SE. . . South east is a huge area!

The tracking ability right now is garbage, but then again, even tho it's crap, it works better than our harvesting skill does now. Thanks SOE. The least they can do is have those nice Emergency patches that EQ had that fixed the big issues right away instead of waiting the whole month just to break more stuff.

Oh ya, and when I'm tracking Animals. . why is it that Vendors come up and peoples droid? Pets show up too, but that's reasonable, because most of them are animals, but Vendors? common

Cool macro. I'm gonna borrow it.

Personally I have done a fair amount of self-taught tracking in real life just because of an interest in it and by reading up and experimenting on it.

I guess my 'animation' is basically bending down with elbows on knees, squinting at the ground, pacing ver slowly, and if the sign is obvious nothing more than glancing at the ground.

Oh yeah, don't forget to look up. Lots of times the thing you're tracking can get pretty close if you keep your eyes glued to the ground.
