Thread: How does areatrack work? Quick Questions:
Hey there guys,
I just hit novice ranger (so psyched) butI have a quick question about the areatrack skill. How exactly does it work? Does it get better and actually tell me a direction the farther into tracking I get? As it is now, I hit area track, animal, and then it gives me a big long list of animals in the "area" (how big this areais i don't know) and then I can click on an animal and hit ok.... but it seems nothing happens. Is there a way that it will tell me the general direction of the animal I click on. For instance I was looking for crazed durni's.... I did an area track, and found a BUNCH on the list. But there was no way to tell if they are behind me, ahead of me, how far or even a general direction. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot guys, all the information you can give would be great... Thanks again.

Areatrack you get at novice is useless.
Tracking 1 gets you direction, so at least you know if they are nw, sw, east, or whatever. This is where the skill becomes useful enough to be used. I wouldn't even recommend bothering with /areatrack without Tracking 1.
Tracking 2, I dunno, I never use it; I never try to track NPCs ![]()
Tracking 3 is where it gets uberuseful. You know where they are and how far to go before you find 'em
And tracking 4... well, I never track Players, so I wouldn't say if it's useful or not, so...
AWESOME.... Thank you very much.
The later version of area track must be AWESOME for doing those (get 45hides 7k-10k) missions on corellia or any planet for that matter. Should be great. Thanks for the help! I'll be working for track3.

Actually, those missions don't say get hides. just get 45 kills...
Actually a few of them do say hides.... but they do not mean "hides" in the scoutable item sense of the word, rather in the hide/pelt sense. ![]()
