Thread: Woho, the devs gave us a new grief skill!
Well, the rangers had a great opportunity to get other characters pissed with the help of rescue as we could rescue NPC's and then engage the player shooting at them. Not very suprisingly was this removed, but now they gave us something just as fun.
I was out with a group of people on a long endor hunt. Our leader was pretty experienced and managed to lead everyone around without aggroing any monsters. But on the way back I rembered I had a few endor conceal kits I hadn't used and decided I could give them a test.
Trying to hide the evil smile on my face I asked if I should conceal everyone for the run back. Of course everyone had no idea of the problems with conceal and thought it sounded great. So now the fun begun. Our leader continued as before keeping us at a safe distance from the high level aggro mobs... he thought. As soon as we met our first group of enemies they broke two members camo at 64 metres and charged us. We managed to fend them off but lost one member in the process (no doctors that could revive). During the following 3km back to the outpost this continued and we lost member after member to real nasty critters. Once we reached the outpost no one but me and the leader was alive. I guess they won't be asking for conceal anytime soon.
So if you really want to piss someone off, put conceal on them while they are out in the wilderness.. they are sure to get killed.
sadly this tech doesnt always work...i conceal myself fine ...and yet other rangers cant even do that without breaking agro..I can also conceal some of my non ranger friends no problem but others cant stay concealed for more then a minute,...
but hey!!! if we keep doing this the devs would be forced to fix it
Ya, they would fix it, but it's a rather "dark" method...
Makes me feel funny about it... I won't do it but if someone tells the dev's your story the threat may be enough to bump this issue up for a look-see.
Oh my God, Quaf, I'm going to Bestine and griefing every known Imp I can find.
Of course they won't fix the camo, they'll just through in a consent check to keep people from getting something that is like, totally beneficial to anyone in the game, right?
Maybe I should go to Endor and grief everyone in sight with my mad Ranger skills.
We have to do something to keep the darn animals from breaking maskscent / conceal and then attacking us from waaay outside their normal attack range.

You should post this on the main SWG board. More likely to get attention there, especially from concerned non-rangers who'll be afraid of camo.
Might be the only way to get the devs to realize that camo ain't all it's advertised to be, especially when a ranger applies it to non-rangers.
It's somewhat maddening that some Rangers report problems with animals breaking maskscent and conceal and other report it's good.
Today outside Anchorhead a kreetle broke my maskscent and attacked from 70 meters away.
Believe me, not bragging, but if I can use Ranger skills to solo level 50 creatures, I think I know how to use the Ranger class.
For me it's bugged. I did a reinstall and full scan to see if I was screwing something up and nope, same exact effect.
Heck, I hate reinstalling everything, but I really, really want this stuff to work! For me it's too much of a liability.
On Tatooine dealing with a kreetle that breaks a Master Ranger's maskscent is merely an insulting annoyance. On Endor a Borgle Lifesucker coming at me from over 70 meters away is an insulting, embarrasing death.
Ypiana
Master Ranger hunting Gorgs for resources and getting attacked by every creature in the Galaxy.
I have experienced the same thing on Wanderhome. I concealed my party members, (non rangers, but but have moderate scout skills - CH), and myself. I was detected within 30 seconds, aggro'ed buy a vynock, while my party members were completely unaffected.
I have discontinued using MS and /conceal until this is fixed. Hope it won't be a long time.

Maskscent and conceal are totally random for me now. I'll run by a kreetle nest and it will break, then past a mountain squill nest and it won't. Or vice versa. I can't depend on it at all.
I have had maskscent broken by lone (only one on my screen) kreetles and sevortts - both are very light blue to me.
I have had conceal break from evil settlers. Again very light blue and extremely annoying given the cost of conceal.
Are all of us with conceal/maskscent problems Bothan maybe? Or all master rangers? Or both?
