Thread: New Master Ranger (and Survival observation)
Woot! I took the plunge and did the Survival grind for the last half of my last box of Ranger Survival, and got it all done in about two hours, with me making camps and traps like mad in the process. I also spent a little time observing my experience, and it would appear there is a variable aspect to experience accumulation in camps.
Specifically, I was using the Field Base camp, and for about half my session I had a guest, while for the other half it was just me. I was doing no healing in any of this, and no unexpected guests appeared. After 15 minutes of camping (give or take 30 seconds), when I was by myself I would accumulate about 850 Survival experience. However, this amount was actually a range between 780 and 920; 850 seemed to be the average. When I had my guest, I was averaging 1150. The amounts with the guest in place were more consistent, but I still ranged from 1055 to 1220.
Not sure what the source of the randomness was; I would expect a little variation just because I was not stopping at EXACTLY 15 minutes each time. My pet was out and in the camp with me the whole time, but it was uninjured as well, and did nothing but stand there (and as usual, manage to stand right between me and the camp control pad).

I believe that it takes significantly longer to reach the xp cap on a camp if you are in it alone. From my experience, a camp with 2 people in it takes about 12 minutes to cap, where camping alone takes 20-30 minutes depending on the camp.
I will do formal testing of this once I break back into Ranger (^_^) Should be tonight, maybe tomorrow afternoon though.
