Thread: Rangers and Minefields
"what is the deal with rangers and minefields"
Increased Trapping skill allows us to evade mines.
After talking with some of the Corr. last day, it appears that Commandos might receive a bonus for disarming them, but that might be just speculation on our parts. ![]()
I thought the explosion was from the minefield, seeing as how I got the message "You have entered an enemy mine field." But I have never been hurt by another mine.
Hmm cool, I didnt realize we had a bunus that helps us avoid the traps all together. I know with scout and ranger trapping skill we can disarm them. I do it all the time. I'm running along, get the message " you have entered an enemy mine feild". I stop and look for the post/terminal. On that you can disarm the mines. Great fun.
But I have never been hurt by one. I have heard they do a great job in defending bases and cities against overts. Just watch out for a mine field accomonied by a covert detector.
Something new to try
haha after reading this thread I thought I would explore some of the minefields left around our player city from some long forgotten guildwar. The first was apparently empty, as I tried the disarm option several times but kept getting the "you were unable to locate any mines" messages.
There were, though, at least 3 mines in the second. The first exploded as I approached theindicator (ouch... well the effects scared me more than they damaged me). I apparently managed to avoid the second, and got the "your trapping skill has helped you avoid a mine" message, but I did manage to explode (ouch) this one as well when I attempted to disarm it. The third one (ouch) exploded a few seconds later. After this, though, I couldn't find any more mines - I kept getting the "you were unable to locate any mines" message, and even my attempts to detonate more mines by running around the indicator were unsuccessful.
Haha - lots of fun!
