Just a question. Are there many people using LLCs as rangers if so how are they working. What kind of things are you able to solo?

Nate,

To effectively use the LLC you need to have BH. Even then, you need to train a couple of boxes before it is an effective weapon. I use it to electricity vulnerable opponents, but only in a group or with a tank. Other than that you will get smoked as it is pretty slow and inaccurate. It also cannot use powerups to boost speed. A speed slice is key for this weapon.

Erm... I'm not really a true Ranger. Just kind of have it for /areatrack when hunting Krayts and looking for babies to tame as CH. The LLC is a nice weapon. But, currently there is a 2.5x damage mod against melee attacks. Also, like the FT, specials only work from within 16m. So you have to be very careful with it. Now they are supposed to be removing this in the publish this month (vehicle publish) when they implement mitigation. So that will help. Currently I have LLC2 with lightingsingle1. It does 3-5K damage on your non-armored target. Lightingsingle2 does twice that. Also, my LLC, even with special delays is a little slow, but, its still faster than my laser carbine. But, I got a great speed slice on my LLC (3.2 speed).

What can I solo? That's kind of misleding because last night I took out a great plains walker pinket lair (6 great plains walker pinkets, 3 pinkets) and voritor lair (6 voritors). So thats 15 mobs with 10K HAMs without getting incapped. But, I was also using a graul as a tank. Then when my graul went down I ate some chef buffs, took some neutron pixie and put on my 50-60% adv comp armor on and finished off the last couple of voritors myself. I also use my BH carbine KDs to knock down my target and get even more damage on them.

So its hard to say what you can solo with an LLC. BH weapons are not autonomous, they are meant to work together. The carbine branch is used to control your target (state changes), pistol bleeds and inflicts health damage and the LLC is your heavy hitter for when your target is controlled. Really BH carbine is the key to a BH's power.

ok so it sounds like the LLC will be good for groups but i may want to stay with main weapons for solo play or drop my medic skills and take more BH skills to get the pistol bleeds and things.

I use my LLC as my sole weapon. I can regularly hit for 6-7k with Lightining single 2 (as someone mentioned, you need the higher skill for the LLC to be worthwhile) but I can hit for over 1k with my regualr shot. If you miss a special with your LLC, you are in trouble, but I won't give it up for anyhting. I sepnd most of my time soloing, and i can drop sharnaff and ronto fairly easily. Fambaa are easy if they are alone.I even dropped a rogue fambaa solo, but I had to kite the heck out of it. I highly reccomend it, but it is quite the skill point investment.

I forgot to mention, many things have electricity resists, but I don't usually go after those kinds of things alone, so that is wheer the grouping aspect come into play. Also, whenI say solo, I mean solo...without a pet, soI tend to play if conservatively. On minute I can take out a fambaa, the next I an incapped by a peko peko.

Well for one im a wookie and cant wear armor so ill not be taking on any Rancors anytime soon solo. Second I quit Camelot because i was burned out on sword play. Third guns fit my playing style better. As a side note can Wookies use personal shield generators.

It depends upon your build somewhat. I have been a master creature handler for quite a while, so pets are my primary defense (and offense occassionally) across all my builds. For a short while I took up bounty hunter and as long as my pet was standing, the LLC was just devestating.

But one time my pet got stuck at a server boundry and some meatlumps (the puny kind) jumped me. They won with two guys standing...

Don't forget about your other weapons though. There are situations where the LLC does little or no damage, whereas you have pistols and rifles with AP and various damage types. Starting off with a few bleeds usually doesn't hurt either.

ok well it sounds like i will end up with a hybrid ranger / BH based on what im looking for dropping most all my medical, then let it evolve from there that way i can decide if i like the ranger tree or BH tree better although a good mixture of the 2 could be benificial. Especially having the NPC and PC area track.

Nrass - also put in my vote for allowing traps to be used on PCs and PC creatures. I like the anti CH idea we need a good nemesis. Also since we are masters of nature once we make novice ranger should we get a limited upgrade to our pet speed, lvl, etc. not to the lvl of a CH by any means but a little boost would be good. Also i liked the idea of a % chance to do more damage in combat with creatures due to knowing the weaknesses they have. I would also like to see info as far as what our expected harvest would be on a giving creature when using examine. oh yeah we need binoculars badley.

Thanks

I use a LLC and i love it. I used to be a pistoleer, and im able to solo more creatures now that i can do more damage. My friend uses a DX2, and is pretty high up in the pistoleer tree. I had my combat box open (like i always do) and i was comparing what damage i was doing to what damage he was doing. I was hitting for around 1k (with no specials) and he was hitting for around 300. Now, his was quicker, but i still got in my 1k before his 350 added up......it went something like this....

Me hits Creature for 1250

Friend hits creature for 350

Friend hits creature for 300

Friend hits creature for 300

Me hits creature for 1125

Friend hits creature for 345

Friend hits creature for 325

Me hits creature for 1200

So basically, i figured out that he was getting off more shots, but in the long run, i was still doing more damage then him. This was without specials to. With Lightning Single 1 i can hit anywhere from 3-5k damage. Its a little slower but i still like the LLC better then i liked my DX2. All opinion i guess, find whatever weapons you like to use and go for it.

You must need to get LLC 4 to get a good speed. I have a 4.4 Speed LLC and at level 4 and I shoot around every 2 seconds at over 1k damage per.
