Thread: Camouflage and NPC's. A clarification please.
I've heard camo kits also hide you from npc's. Since Im too lazy to test this out myself Ill ask you guys. And no Im not some nOOb ranger. Ive been master for a few months now. I just never saw the value in camo kits and used mask scent instead.
Seem to work on some, but not all, NPCs. There is a bug that allows some NPCs to ingore camo and aggro on you.
However, personal experiences
1st- Buddy was overt, I was totally TEF'd. We camo'd, walked up to some nearby Imps (our next target as a matter of fact) and were not noticed until we fired the opening salvo.
2d - Nightsisters ignore camo. I was playing tag with enraged rancors (mainly to scare a hunting partner) when I got aggro'd upon by a nearby nightsister.
3d - I apply camo to a non scout, never been a scout, medic. We wander into the wild. I get aggro'd on, he walks on by. Same faction, he was actually closer than I was when I was aggro'd.
So what I guess I am trying to say is, it works, when it wants to.
JB
and as we all know, rasps break my camo/maskscent/gonads all the time
Cammo, does rock.. I use it instead of mask anyday..
But he is right some nasty NPC's can see through it, Dark Force guys and Night/Mountain clan NPCs can.. but that is about it.
I can go on Lok and stand by some Deika*Spell* Droids and have no probs with most creatures, it aids in taming as well I think. The Creatures dont see me, and it seems to help taming rancors or anything else for that matter.
THE good thing is you can increase the amount (in stacks) By practicing and yoou can cammo your entire party so you dont have to stop on the way to a misson to defend one person.
*Also as of now My cammo goes off when you shot but kicks in after you stop the kill process*
Ever since they made the resources realistic its nice to have it *Dant for sure, as well as Dath*
Try it,,youll see *Also look at the percent it increases over mask scent for you and others*
For NPCs you do not have a poor faction with, camo functions exactly as maskscent does on creatures. This also seems to hold true for Rebels/Imperials because their faction functions a bit differently.
funny part about conceal kits, you can /poke Mauler Master/lords one second then walk 50 m and have a rabid shaupaut, break it.
Same with swoops, Maruaders, Evile Ewoks etc.
I found that concealment was very good for using on people with out Maskscent Skills docs etc.
btw sketch im offline for 12 days so sorry chief can't me ingame.
Yes camo does work on some NPC, and it works on most creatures.
First you must keep in mind that every creature and NPC sort of tests the area to see if your there. If they break your camo it is because they "discovered" you. The longer you are in the presence of an NPC or creature the more likely eventually it will break it.
Second it depends on the level and capabilities of the NPC. For instance supposedly if you are near say a swamp cat at level 10 say it has a much harder time ever breaking your camo then a Nightsister at level 80 to 250 who uses the force. This is how it is suppose to work.
Another problem just like with maskscent is that yellow seem to have an easier time of breaking your camo if with reds, if they are alone they usually don't. It is far better then it use to be, because it use to be that every time you went near reds and there was even one yellow by far most of the time they would "break through" your camo or maskscent.
Another oddity is that it seems that the people you camo end up usually not getting broken if you do. Now I am not sure why because a ranger should be far more careful and quiet then anyone you camo who isn't, but it seems to me in my experience this is the way it usually happens.
I hope this is helpful.

The only NPCs that should be checking/maskscent or /conceal are the aggressive ones (the red names)...
- Therefore Yellow creatures should never break your concealment.

Probably, what's happening in that case is that the red breaks the camo, and then BAFs, dragging the yellows into battle as well.

I can go with that scenario. ![]()
