Thread: mad musings of a ranger

I am inspired to ramble - to ramble about being a ranger.

I like being a ranger. Sometimes I see people asking why we choose to be rangers, as the cost benefit is clearly behind other classes (Other classes, by the way, that we can CAMP the heck out of!). I am a ranger because I see it is a profession of knowledge. The extra information we get when we /examine a creature is nice, but more importantly, we need to know what creatures on what planet will drop the resource we're looking for. We also need to know what quality that resource on the different planetsduring anyparticular shift.

For example, the chokus of Yavin are appearantly bird-dogs, as they drop avian meat. To get a choku mission, look for one that pays 3200 credits or so. They are social, aggressive around 30m, and the frenzied choku are the toughest and can cause disease (The others don't.). Sometimes a boss-type choku called a packmaster will pop out of the lairat the end. I can handle the aggro of two males or one male and two females if I am only buffed in the mind, but they won't kill me.

Not that this is anything that any player couldn't pick up if they halfway paid attention during their adventures, but I would think that a ranger would consider knowing things like this important.

There are other things, of course - no one can beat us in a PvP camping duel, for one - but this is the one I picked to ramble about today.

I take great pride in knowing answers to questions other people never heard of. I gave up Ranger (and most of Scout) to pursue various other professions (can't be a CH and a master combat prof at the same time without giving it up), but it's the knowledge you take with you as a player that makes you the real Ranger of the game. I still know where to find the good hunting grounds, or the Krayt Dragon spawns no one knows about but people like us.

And I love it so much, I'm gonna get ranger again pretty soon.

Riflemen/Rangers will have the edge here, since their minds will be all hopped up on vasarian brandy, muon gold and vagnerian canape. Or will the competition be for Champion 'Natural' Camper?

How about a camo competition? You the first one to have to kill the thug loses. Better yet, the elite Kreetle Avoidance Course: the winner is the one who has to dismount and re-/conceal the fewest number of times.

If only we could harvest the whole skin! But no really the first person to patch all the holes in the HTFB wins! Or how about the person that gets by the most kreetles with mask scent.

Hmmm and for JB the largest harvest of Rasps. Or track a BH to a jedi ambush.

Oh don't forget my favorite milk! Who can milk the most?

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Master Ranger 1: I see your camp is as big as mine. Now, let's see how you... uh... sit in it.

Master Ranger 2: Yeah! If we had holochess, I'd take you down. But until then, be intimidated by my laser fence!!

Hopefully they'll start handing out faction points for not falling asleep while camping.
