Thread: Economics of rangering

I want to encourage all the rangers out there to get as many credits for their resources as they can. With the recent patches that made chefs and be's more visible or morely heavily played there has been a higher demand for our talents. Combine this with the upcoming patch for vehicles/droid/creatures to not need camps and many a novice scout will pass as well.

We are the ones that need to keep this a fun class to play. If our prices have a negative impact on the economy, then our harvest levels will be adjusted. None of us want to harvest non-stop day and night, and right now, there isn't much incentive for others to play this class. The truth is that this class kinda sucks. The perks are really minimal compared to a scout, so there aren't many ppl interested in it. I gave it up, only to come back to it because its what I really like to do.

No one wants to pay 1 mil for a full suit of armor, or 1500 cr for a shot of brandy, but on several servers, prices are heading there quickly. The devs will look at our impact on the economy in order to determine any adjustments to the harvesting rates.

This isn't a call to join OPEC and drive prices up. I just want ppl to charge what their stuff is worth on the open market. Remember, it's worth what ppl are willing to pay for it. Don't be shy about your pricing because you think that a certain price is more "fair." I know some rangers that charge huge sums of money for their services. They can do this because there is currently a shortage of organic resources.

You can help the devs make any necessary changes tothe harvest rates by charging the proper prices and letting the demand for your goods show on the economy.

In that case I would like to announce the following to my fellow scouts and rangers on scylla. Of course there may be better ways of harvesting your goods, but thats open for debate. I try to specialise in meats , so here are some tips on current stats for the vets and hunting strategy for the budding rangers out there. (wont say n00bs you don't deserve it)

*Lok*

Get to the mission terminals and hunt for perlek(avian = didnt see them on the terminal but they agro?) flit(avian = 3000c) and mynock(herb = 9000c) you should have some nice stacks of what I think could be the best around at the moment since the avian shift on dantooine... I have only just arrived on Lok so i don't know how long these have been around. I saw a 20k stack of avian from dants last shift go for 200cpu in the scylla trade forum recently. Tracking on lok can be a bit of a pain if there is no one around so stick near populated areas about 1.5k out .. Well thats what happened when i was there but , suppose it all depends on time of day etc..

Lok avian = epip = DR:317 F:650 PE:682 OQ:997
Lok Herbivore = tave = DR:913 F:377 PE:416 OQ:895

* Tatooine *

Go hunting in the kryat dragon graveyard on tat for these three resources if they look tempting. I have managed to get 40cpu for the herb already.. Banthas and eopies for those, also look out for ku pa, desert squills, dune lizards, dune banthas, feral banthas, dragonets and of course the kryat dragons.. Hunting parties might pay you for your services, i managed to hook one team up with a kryat but didn't take cash for it although they offered (they got a pearl). I have been doing this a while, and I think these might shift soon *frown*.

Tat Herbivore meat = Decuva = DR:316 F:253 PE:58 OQ:999
Tat Reptillian meat = Gideurgi = DR:936 F:507 PE:434 OQ:688
Tat Carnivore meat = Amau = DR:631 F:595 PE:668 OQ:566

There does seem to be a shortage of organics, or there are people willing to pay huge prices on our server at the trade forums. Either way you can cash in with harvesting ability here..

"Just watch out for those mynocks - disease isn't so fun"

Mynocks are no fun full stop, Gurks are a safer bet especially if you only take the 8-9K missions. The 13K missions sometimes spawn Gurk Destroyers as the lair is almost destroyed, these are nasty.

I have been selling my Lokian herb meat on the bazaar at 15cpu, it sells quickly, should I be asking more for it?

Heck Yeas you should. With the organics crunch, you could be receiving double your income. Dont forget the option to trade a specific amount of resources for uber equipment also (do the math)and you can still have some left over to sell for a good bank buff.

and I argued last night with a doc about 50cpu per unit....(should have asked for 100cpu). He was blaming me for docs charging 10K+ for buffs. I told him it was because of thier 10K per buff that 50cpu was reasonable. He then told me he would gladly buff me for 20k. I kindly declined his offer. They want cheaper stuff they should get it themselfs or charge less for thier services. They make mucho credits off our work. We should get some of the action. And without us where would they get their 5k stacks?

Happy hunting and may you each have bountiful harvests..
